The MotoGP Spain Grand Prix will continue to be played in Jerez until 2031

Although the focus was put on what happened on the track of the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit during the Spanish Motorcycling Grand Prix, there was a doubt about how many more times this situation would be repeated again. And while the GP was already underway, there was no confirmation that Jerez continued to host it once the contract ended in 2026.

Therefore, there were only two editions ahead, the present and the next year, insured. But now we know that this will not be so and that there is GP of Spain in the Circuit of Jerez – Ángel Nieto at least until 2031. And it is that the community of Andalusia, the City Council of Jerez and Dorna have closed the agreement that ensures the conclusion for five extra seasons to the already existing contract.

Good news for fans that year after year crows the circuit facilities, but also and almost more important for Jerez and the towns of the area, they also flood part of the province for several days with an important economic return for all businesses in the area.

The fans never fail in Jerez

In fact, this weekend, the figures of previous years have been exceeded as far as assistance is concerned, and the images of the circuit to be overflowed throughout the weekend and not only during the race, added to the stands and pelusse filled on Sunday morning at 6:30 are a clear example of why the GP of Spain in the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit is one of the most important of the calendar, but the one that most.

After the agreement, those responsible for the agreement have shown their satisfaction for it. María José García-Pelayo said about it: “When you work well, the fruits are collected and today is a day of joy, today it is a news for our city, for all of Andalusia and for all of Spain, because this is the MotoGP Spain Grand Prix.”

For his part, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanna Moreno, declared that the agreement: “It allows us to transfer clearly, forcefully and accurately that we will continue to enjoy these great MotoGP awards in the period of 2027-2031. This means that the great communion that exists between Jerez and the Grand Prix of Spain of Motorcycling will continue”Juanma Moreno said. “The availability and link to Jerez have been very present to reach the agreement. We thank Carmelo Ezpeleta to achieve this agreement and also the Junta de Andalucía team”

Carmelo Ezpeleta, who also has seen how a circuit curve had his name, added: “For Dorna and the MotoGP family, the confirmation that we will be at least until 2031 is a fantastic news and a joy.” The CEO of Dorna has thanked the efforts that the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and the city of Jerez make “to be able to carry out an event that is but the most important, if one of the most important in the world. We are delighted.”

The Jerez layout is one of the most spectacular of the whole year
The Jerez layout is one of the most spectacular of the whole year

The agreement extends for five years, but there has been no talk of possible improvements from the Jerez circuit – Ángel Nieto

What has not been discussed for the moment is possible reforms of the track in terms of security, since in the last GP, although it has been spending several years, we have seen high-speed impacts of the pilots against the protected walls, yes, with Air-Fense.

The Cadiz layout, which is just celebrating its 40 years, is one of the most special clues but because of its design and characteristics, in addition to the fact that machines have evolved considerably in recent years, it has seen how some areas are beginning to be extremely dangerous. A complicated task ahead, because precisely some of these areas do not have an easy solution due to the characteristics of the orography of the area.
