Ducati has just presented its new production titled “Life in Red” to the public. After achieving a new record of victories in a MotoGP season in 2024, a record of podiums composed entirely of Ducati riders, the third consecutive riders’ and constructors’ world championship, the Italian brand summarizes its successes in this filming now available on DAZN.
“Life in red”: A success story
It has been more than 20 years since Loris Capirossi achieved the first victory for Ducati in MotoGP and, since then, Italian motorcycles have not stopped achieving success. DAZN, the leading global sports streaming platform, has analyzed this trajectory with the help of its great drivers and engineers, in a new production that discovers from the inside how the red passion is lived.
It does so alongside historic Ducati fans such as Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding; Gigi Dall’Igna, General Director of Ducati Corse; Carl Fogarty, four-time WorldSBK champion or WorldSBK legends who have raced with Ducati such as Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso, Loris Capirossi, Álvaro Bautista, Jorge Martín, Pecco Bagnaia, Marc Márquez or Carlos Checa.
“Life in red” invites us to take a tour through the history of Ducati in MotoGP and WorldSBK. With the emblematic city of Bologna, birthplace of the Ducatistas, as a backdrop, this documentary revives the most emblematic moments of the Italian brand, as well as some of its most complex challenges.
From the first victories in the premier class to the triumph of Carlos Checa in Superbikes, through the difficulties with Valentino Rossi or the success of Bagnaia, fans have the opportunity to relive, for more than an hour, Ducati’s career in MotoGP .
Marc Marqueza recent addition to the Ducati factory team, knows well what it means to compete against the Desmosedici GP: “I have been able to experience its entire evolution from the other side. I arrived in MotoGP in 2013 and no one wanted the Ducati (…) My biggest rivals while at Honda were Yamaha, but in 2016 and 2017 I said ‘be careful, be careful, they’re coming’. Just when Lorenzo was already on Ducati, I said ‘they have arrived’.”
The Cervera driver also has praise for his future boss: “I would define Gigi Dall’Igna as a pilot. He has a 100% driver’s mentality, when he doesn’t win he gets angry. “He has that ambition that is necessary in the world of competition.” Jorge Lorenzo also remembers how his signing was closed:
“The first approach was made by Dall’Igna in 2014, he has always been my great supporter. We worked together in Derbi and Aprilia and I knew that if I was comfortable with the bike I would be a winner (…) At the end of 2015 I was looking for new stimuli after so many years at Yamaha (…) We called Dall’Igna and that’s when he became active all”.
Jorge Martinrecently crowned MotoGP World Champion, analyzes Ducati’s rider strategy, which he considers key to the brand’s success: “I think they follow a better strategy on an economic level, because in the end you sign young riders who move up at almost any price, riders without obsessions with other bikes or from other years with a free mind to learn the Ducati. This has been key.”
The two-time MotoGP World Champion, Pecco Bagnaiawho will share the box with Márquez in the next championship, emphasizes: “Ducati for me is love (…) I have always dreamed of reaching MotoGP with Ducati and I still think that the most beautiful motorcycle in the world is a Ducati.” Another legend of Spanish motorcycling, Álvaro Bautista, highlights the fundamental role of Gigi Dall’Igna in the development of the motorcycle: “Gigi is a magician. There’s the secret. He is a good engineer who listens to the pilots, who knows how to work, not only seeing data, but also interpreting it along with the pilot’s comments. In recent years it is the motorcycle that everyone wants.”
“Life in Red” is the latest addition to DAZN’s extensive motorcycle catalog. With Jorge Martín’s recent world title still fresh, the excitement of two wheels is still alive with this and many other contents on the platform.
