The expected BMW F 450 GS It is still one of the most anticipated motorcycles by the brand’s fans, since it presented the first concept of the model in the last bars of last year. Then we knew the first details of what was to come, including its market positioning and as the Bavara firm had planned to bathe with the strongest rivals within the segment where the model will be encompassed.
BMW F 450 GS: Sight launch
It was last May when we had news for the last time of the BMW F 450 GS, after the first test mule was sighted circulating on Indian roads. In the images that we showed you we could appreciate how the next GS of half cylindrated mounted a complete team of suitcases, Top Case and side saddles. On it two were the occupants who travel on board, we assume that testing the real skills of the motorcycle at full load.
Now MCN’s partners have confirmed something that is being talked about in recent months and is directly related to the F 450 GS and its equipment. We refer, of course, to end up offering as an option the possibility of implementing an automatic change system.
Something that seems to have finally confirmed after the latest statements of a brand executive on the occasion of the BMW Motorrad Days, held at Garmisch-Partenkiron, Germany, last weekend.
Although we still have no official news of the official launch date of the model, it seems clear that the future F 450 GS will arrive loaded with technology and that this will be offered in a staggered manner with different versions of the model. Among these optional an automatic change system would be presumably included. We assume that this will resemble in conception and operation to the already known ASA system (automated change assistant) used by its older sister, the R 1300 GS.
Recall that this presents an intelligent functional design in which two electromechanical actuators automate the clutch and the gears of the six -speed transmission marches, which is the main difference with a conventional change assistant. A manual lever is not necessary to drive the clutch manually. In addition, it improves the pilot sensations thanks to the rapid change sequences, adapted to the revolutions and the precise gear changes and gear changes.
Other technical aspects that seem to be confirmed in F 450 GS 2026, are for example that, at the outset, the brand will only offer a tire settings. These will be presented in 19 and 17 inches measurein front and behind respectively.
