The award for Car of the Year in Europe 2025 It is one of the most prestigious in the motor world. Although it was previously delivered at the defunct Geneva Motor Show, on this occasion it was moved to the Brussels Motor Show to announce which was the most voted vehicle from that last list with seven finalists that were revealed at the end of 2024. The winner, or rather the winners, have been the Renault 5 and Alpine A290; two cars that share a technical base and are practically twin brothers. Let’s review how the result has been.
Car of the Year Vote in Europe 2025
- Renault 5/Alpine A290 – 353 points
- Kia EV3 – 291 points
- Citroën C3 – 215 points
- Hyundai Inster – 172 points
- Dacia Duster – 168 points
- Cupra Terramar – 165 points
- Alfa Romeo Junior – 136 points
The truth is that there has not been a big dispute and the 60 members of the jury have been quite clear that the small French electrics deserved to win. In this edition they had been seen various utilities in electric formatin addition to the usual SUVs that usually appear on these lists. The Citroën C3 and Hyundai Inster have not been far behind, with 215 and 172 points respectively.
However, the only one who stood up to the winners was the Kia EV3 with its 291 points. It was still somewhat far from the 353 points that the Renault 5 and Alpine A290 achieved, although the rest were even further away. The list was closed by the Dacia Duster, Cupra Terramar and Alfa Romeo Junior; products also with a high level and with the coincidence of being an SUV.
It should be noted that Renault also won this award in 2024 with the Scenic. It is the second time that the same brand repeats with the Car of the Year in two consecutive yearsso it has a special merit. The previous occasion was met by the Fiat Punto and the Fiat Bravo, which won in 1995 and 1996, respectively.
