The Royal Spanish Motorcycle Federation (RFME) has conquered the FIM Ride Green Cupthe sustainability award of the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship. The international jury placed Team España at the top after evaluating all the environmental projects presented by the participating teams, in a very close decision that left Switzerland in second position and Austria in third.
FIM Ride Green Cup 2026: A sustainable MX is possible
The Spanish project stood out for its consistent and long-term nature, with environmental education as a fundamental pillar. The team worked on environmental training with all its members—including a member of the newly created Sustainability Commission of the RFME, in possession of the sustainability license—and assigned each member specific tasks through daily checklists.
Those routines ensured compliance with key practices such as the use of environmental mats, avoidance of detergents, and proper handling of funnels and supporting materials. The candidacy was reinforced with the support of the federation itself and its sustainability commission, and the team operated completely self-financed.

The FIM jury highlighted the structured educational approach, the participation of the entire staff and the operational consistency throughout the days of competition, factors that made the difference compared to the proposals from Switzerland – very solid in documentation and communication – and from Austria, recognized for its waste collection actions on the circuit.
Beyond actions on the ground, the Spanish team made communication a central piece of its candidacy: it systematically documented each sustainable practice and disseminated it through its channels. The RFME dedicated a total of 19 publications on social networks and 3 press releases to the project —more than 100,000 impacts on social channels— that turned the initiative into a visible and replicable case during all the days of competition.

At the conclusion of the FIM Ride Green Cup 2026 Paco Riconational motocross coach, declared: “I am very proud of these drivers. They have shown that competing at the highest level and caring for the environment go hand in hand, and that sustainability is built with the daily work of the entire team.”
He concluded by arguing: “Telling it and communicating it well has been an essential part of the project: this first place belongs to them and to all those who have made it possible”. With this victory, the RFME consolidates sustainability as one of its strategic lines, with a view to transferring the model to other disciplines and to future editions of the competition.
