The Volkswagen Caddy California PanAmericana is the prelude to the new California brand

A few months ago we talked about the new Volkswagen California, a legendary camper that leaves aside the Transporter to be based on the Multivan T7 and gain hybrid versions. It is not the only novelty. For a few years now, larger and smaller variants have been launched, to the point that California is already a new brand within Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. In addition to camper vans, an expanded range of technical assistance, products, destination services, activities, experiences, etc. will be launched. At the same time, the Volkswagen Caddy California PanAmericana joins the fray.

“With this new California world, the California driving community can now enjoy a unique spectrum of services, products and leisure adventures. We make it easier to plan trips, travel, purchase matching equipment and accessories, rent or buy a motorhome and experience exclusive events,” explained Lars Krause, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen. The services will be available through the California mobile app for trip planning and discounts on accessories.

At the same time, the new caravan was presented at the Düsseldorf Caravan Show. Volkswagen Caddy California PanAmericanaThe PanAmericana package was already available for the Caddy, but not for the camper variant. It has a more rugged look, but no off-road enhancements (as one might think from the name, which does evoke long road trips).

Although the PanAmericana package does not include upgraded suspension or all-wheel drive, it does offer enhanced features such as a rear-view camera, park distance control, keyless start, digital instrument cluster and LED exterior lighting. The dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning will help ease tension during the grueling miles of a road trip for two.

In terms of aesthetics, the new Caddy California wears the PanAmericana emblem, rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with a matte black interior, bumpers and wheel arch liners that give it a touch of aggressiveness, as well as other chrome and silver finishes. The van that debuted in Düsseldorf was equipped with an optional sliding rear mini-kitchen, as well as a set of outdoor table and chairs and awnings to create a camping area.
