For some time now, we have followed with special attention the work coming out of the Holy Moly Co. preparation workshop. Francisco Menezes and his team continue to delight us with their striking preparations that, in the end, become “plug-and-play” kits with which any fan can turn their mount into a very special machine. For example in a XT700or at least in a sophisticated version 3.0 of the legendary XT500.
On this occasion the idea was, as Menezes himself clarifies: “Reviving a classic motorcycle came to me a few months ago. Being so close to Yamaha, the idea came quickly: to create a modern XT500 with the chassis of a Ténéré 700. This is our approach to what an
Yamaha XT700 by Holy Moly in detail
Recently presented at the Bike Shed London Show, this “XT700” from Holy Moly is developed on the platform of the Ténéré 700. As in previous projects, the Portuguese specialist chose to give the famous Yamaha trail model the glamor and style that the iconic XT500 enjoyed in its time. Furthermore, for the occasion, it had the support of the Portuguese subsidiary of the brand, as well as Kedo Official Parts.
The latter, as indicated by the Bike Exif colleagues, are “parts specialists with 30 years of experience in tuning the classic single-cylinder Yamaha XT, TT and SR”. A strategic partner in the project taking into account that the objective was to achieve an image and style as close as possible to the image that the famous XT500 once sported at the end of the 1970s.
All of this under the common rule that prevails in their projects: “it is prohibited” to make any changes that are not fully reversible. That is why the portfolio of components that give life to this Holy Moly XT700 use the famous system plug and play. Among them we can highlight:
- XT500 style handmade fuel tank
- Specific headlight with Mad-Artworks metal protector
- Custom Excel Wheels by Haan Wheels
- TracTive Suspension Long Travel Suspension Kit
- Color scheme emulating the 1979 XT500 recently auctioned by Kedo Parts, etc.
After the different changes made to this XT700 preparation, the empty weight of the motorcycle is now only 175 kg, which makes it more effective in off-road driving. Unlike on other occasions, instead of selling the typical “removable” kit, those interested will be able to enjoy a comprehensive experience giving life to their dream XT700:
“Buyers will have complete freedom to customize colors and details, and, as a final touch, the Holy Moly team will travel to the new owner’s home to assemble the motorcycle in their garage,” they explain.
