These places have temporarily removed traffic tickets and you can’t imagine why

We are in a country where fines are the order of the day. The vigilance on the roads is greater than years ago, chasing speed with radars and distractions with all kinds of cameras. However, today we bring a curious story of places that have chosen to “turn a blind eye.” In three Mexican locations they have directly temporarily removed traffic tickets. For one hundred days there will be no sanctions for all those who break traffic rules, they will only be warned.

It has happened in the State of Mexico, specifically in three municipalities: Ecatepec, Tlalnepantla and Cuautitlán Izcalli. These towns, close to the town of the country, have had a problem for years and it has to do with the authorities. They have detected high levels of corruption in police officers, who were accustomed to demand bribes from drivers to remove the fine. In this way, the offenders’ money was taken directly into their pockets and nothing reached the community coffers.

The situation was so critical that they have been forced to remove the fines for just over three months to evaluate the situation and avoid such extortions. It must be specified that although a financial penalty is not charged, drivers who do it wrong They will have to answer before the law. If there is a serious accident caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol, he or she will be arrested. Just as if a car is left parked incorrectly, the tow truck will proceed to remove it as would happen in other cases.

At the same time, during this period there will be no fines in the municipalities and there will be reprimands. The most common fines They are usually those of improper parking, use of the mobile phone while driving and not respecting the STOP signs. These are infractions that are punishable with 2,300 pesos, which corresponds to 109 euros at the exchange rate. All this because of an endemic evil that affects the entire country and is called corruption. In the first six months of 2024, more than 5,000 cases of extortion were registered, although the majority of victims do not report it.
