They try to hit 300 km/h with a Kawa 400 Turbo. At the moment they have a blown engine (video)

The Japanese company Trick Star has been dedicated, for some time, to enhancing mechanics based on “grinders”, in addition to selling all types of accessories and equipment for motorcyclists. And although they previously focused on a Kawasaki ZX-25R and one H2Rnow they have installed a turbo on the new one Kawasaki access sports, the ZX-4R. The result are 130 hp. But since the Japanese love to break records, they tried to exceed 300 km/h with it.

When someone tells you that a 400 cc motorcycle can reach 300 km/h, the first thing you think is: how is it possible? However, for Trick Stara renowned modification expert based in Aichi Prefecture, there are no limits.

Thus, they have led to the Kawasaki ZX-4R to the extreme with its turbo-charged version. And, as we have told you, although the project faced some “small inconveniences» In their first attempt, they also made it clear that the human passion for speed has no end. This last statement sounds too good to us.

In fact, Trick Star had already set a record of 250 km/h with a ZX-25R equipped with turbo. But, this time, his goal was the new ZX-4R. The crazy Japanese engineers used the same turbo compression system as in the ZX-25Rbut the ZX-4Rwith an additional 150 cc generated an impressive power of 130 hpas we told you before. So, in theory, reaching 300 km/h should be an achievable goal. However, as we all know, in the world of speed, practice always beats theory.

This was the adventure of Trick Star’s Kawasaki ZX-4R turbo

At the end of last month, Trick Star took the ZX-4R Turbo to the high-speed test circuit of the Japan Automatic Vehicle Research Institute, where they had previously achieved records with the ZX-25R. During warm-up, the pilot Takeda Yamamoto took the reins of the Kawasaki with great expectations.

However, when the ZX-4R Turbo began to accelerate on a straight line, dense white smoke emerged from its engine. A failure in the propeller? Problems with the pressure relief valve? Nobody knew exactly. But the first attempt ended abruptly with a maximum speed of 252 km/h, although the speedometer read 263 km/h.

The technician Trick Star, Koji Nakamuramade urgent adjustments to the exhaust and pressure relief system to better distribute the load. Additionally, a 44-tooth ring gear was installed to optimize engine performance.

On the second attempt things did not improve at all. In fact, when exiting a curve, the engine again spewed white smoke and was finally declared unusable. The maximum speed measured by GPS was 237 km/h. And although the challenge remained unfinished, the team recognized how difficult it would be to reach 300 km/h with a 400 cc engine. But not impossible.

The road to 300 km/h with the ZX-4R Turbo It’s not over yet. The team is already investigating the causes of the engine failure and plans to try again in the spring. The dream of 300 km/h is still alive.
