Motorcycle customization has always been an area where creativity can take any project down unexpected paths. However, rarely does a preparation manage to attract as much attention as the Honda CB750 Hornet created by Honda Motorsport Madrid for the sixth edition of the Honda Garage Dreams Contest.
A motorcycle that looks like it came out of a life-size LEGO box and shows how far your imagination can go when there are no limits. But in addition to its striking aesthetics, there is another detail that further reinforces its personality. This unique interpretation of the Hornet is equipped with Continental TKC 80 tires.
Without a doubt, an unusual choice for a road naked and one that provides a much more aggressive and adventurous image to the whole. A combination as unexpected as it is effective for one of the most original proposals of the contest.
A CB750 Hornet converted into a LEGO build
The VI edition of the Honda Garage Dreams Contest has chosen the Honda CB750 Hornet as the basis for official dealers in Spain and Portugal to develop their customization projects. This year, in addition, the contest incorporated two different categories:
- Genuine Edition, focused on creativity using exclusively Honda components
- Top Full Edition, which allows you to modify, manufacture or incorporate any element without restrictions
Honda Motorsport Madrid has opted precisely for this second modality. The result is a preparation named “Frame”a motorcycle that directly pays tribute to the LEGO universe and that turns the CB750 Hornet into a kind of perfectly functional giant toy.
The transformation is supported by a complete series of 3D printed parts that replace the original panels. The characteristic building block protrusions appear integrated into the fairing, while even the Honda logo has been reinterpreted following the aesthetics of the popular toy brand.
The Continental TKC 80 become the star element of the project
Although aesthetics are the main protagonist, there is another element that contributes decisively to the personality of this Hornet. The Continental TKC 80 tires provide a completely different image to that of a conventional naked. Usually associated with trail bikes and off-road adventures, the TKC 80 stands out, as you know, for its pronounced stud design and its ability to handle low-adhesion terrain.
In this preparation, in addition to reinforcing the most extreme aspect of the motorcycle, they visually fit with the square geometry that dominates the entire project. The combination is especially striking because it breaks with what is expected. The CB750 Hornet is a naked with a clearly asphalt orientation, but the presence of the Continental TKC 80 introduces a visual language typical of the off-road world that fits perfectly with the casual character of the preparation.
Despite its full-scale toy appearance, the mechanical base remains practically intact. The Hornet retains its 755 cc, 92 HP twin-cylinder engine, one of the elements that has made this model one of the references in its category. The preparation also incorporates an approved Akrapovic exhaust with a high outlet, which further reinforces the robust image of the set.
The objective of its creators was for the motorcycle to remain recognizable and functional, maintaining the essence of the original model while developing a proposal capable of surprising even those who do not usually follow the world of motorcycles. From Honda Motorsport Madrid they explain that the project was born with the intention of creating a motorcycle capable of pleasing anyone regardless of their knowledge of mechanics or customization.
The LEGO inspiration responded precisely to this search for a universal concept, recognizable for several generations. However, turning that idea into a real motorcycle has come with significant challenges. The team has had to work with unusual materials in a conventional workshop and develop specific solutions using 3D printing to manufacture many of the necessary parts.
During the process it was also necessary to adapt some initial ideas to guarantee the functionality and resistance of the components once installed on a motorcycle intended to circulate and withstand vibrations, temperature and real use. Likewise, the incorporation of two categories has expanded the creative possibilities of the Honda Garage Dreams Contest this year, allowing very different projects to coexist.
In the case of Honda Motorsport Madrid, the freedom of the Top Full Edition category has served to develop a preparation that stands out both for its technical execution and for the originality of its concept. The result is a CB750 Hornet that does not go unnoticed: a LEGO-inspired motorcycle, built using 3D printing and equipped with Continental TKC 80 tires that provide an extra dose of personality.
