The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has launched the ‘Express Fine’, a new system designed to reduce the notification time of traffic infractions. Instead of waiting up to 50 days or more, drivers will receive notification within a maximum period of seven days. In addition, those registered in the Electronic Road Address (DEV) will be able to know their sanction in just 48 hours.
This new mechanism not only improves the administrative efficiency of the DGT, but also allows drivers to act more quickly at their fines. Those who pay within the first 20 days can benefit from a 50% discount in the sanction.
The express fine allows better digitalization and greater transparency
The implementation of the ‘express fine’ is part of a commitment to the digitalization of road procedures, reducing the dependence of postal email and minimizing the risk of lost notifications. With this system, the DGT optimizes its resources and avoids unnecessary delays in infractions management.
Advantages and challenges of the new express fine system
Among the main advantages of the ‘express fine’, the speed of notification, the transparency of the process and greater administrative efficiency stand out. For drivers, knowing their situation before allows them to act more in advance and benefit from discounts for soon payment.
However, the system also raises challenges, especially for those drivers who are not familiar with the DEV platform or prefer traditional methods. The DGT has intensified its efforts to promote the use of this tool, with the objective that a greater number of conductors join the digitalization of traffic procedures.
The ‘express fine’ is a significant change in sanctions management and marks a before and after in the relationship between the DGT and the drivers. With a faster and more efficient process, a new stage is opened in the administration of traffic violations.
