There are places in the world, such as the Japanese city of Chiba, where the use of the motorcycle is truly widespread, so that entails in the field of local infrastructure if what we want is for this trend to continue maintaining. That is why even local authorities have been working for several years to offer users, the largest number of parking spaces available.
In Chiba they bet on the two wheels
As we have recently met by Ride Apart, Chiba is one of those cities where they know the importance of the use of motorcycle in the daily displacements of its inhabitants. The authorities are aware that in order to go from here to there, we must have a series of infrastructure and services with which the user, in general terms, feels comfortable.
Little or nothing we look like Chiba in this aspect, especially when we talk about regulations related to parking for motorcycles. While the Japanese create specific laws for the creation of parking spaces, in Europe we find situations as worrying as the MAG (motorcycle action group), in the United Kingdom, propose that the motorcycle can be parking even where it is prohibited.
In Chiba since April 2023, new construction buildings, more than 1,500 square meters, include a percentage of exclusive parking spaces for motorcycles. Taking into account that as of May 2019, the last reference we have, in Chiba more than 142,000 motorcycles had registered, it is unquestionable that initiatives like this are appreciated.
