The arrival of a new track to the WSBK made it difficult to know the performance of the pilots in the Hungary Round. But seen what had happened during what we had of the season, it seemed almost certainly that Toprak Razgatlioglu, which premiered leadership, and Nicolo Bulega would be the main protagonists.
Although Bulega started the season sweeping now it seems to go on a tow of Razgatlioglu, but what is clearly clear is that there is no other pilot that is not consistent enough to bother both more than one career.
SBK Hungary – Carrera 1: A rugged debut
The first Balaton Park curve is actually a funnel, Chicane, in the style of the East Circuits of the 80s that were mousetracks and … what everyone knew could happen. Exit and multiple fall that left several protagonists outside the race, already Lecuona, Gardner, Iannone and Gerloff Ko for the rest of the weekend.
In fact, in the case of Lecuona, the Spanish pilot not only lost the weekend in Hungary, but will also be low in the 8 hours of Suzuka and it remains to be seen if it can be present in the MotoGP Austria GP, where I was going to compete as a chantra substitute.
Once the pilots were served and clean the track, the race began again and Toprak did not give any option. Return on return he was hearing his victory while Bulga was recovering positions to the second position but unable to face the Turk. Also with a good performance, although without enduring the rhythm of Bulleta until the end, but being remarkably faster than the rest, Álvaro Bautista climbed to the podium.
Locatelli, who rolled part of the second race, ended fourth with Danilo Petrucci, who had to start from the back of the grill as he could not have his motorcycle ready in time, traced up to a brilliant fifth place. Alex Lowes, Yari Montela, Xavi Vierge, Garret Gerloff (who later went through the medical center and was declared not suitable for the rest of the weekend) and Axel Bassani completed the Top10.
SBK Hungary – Superpole Race: Lowes caresses the victory … that goes to reason
With the track wet by the rain, but drying at forced marches, making a mistake was easier than ever and choosing the correct tire combination.
Even Toprak was wrong and although he began leading a ruling he relegated him to third place with Sam Lowes leading several laps. But the BMW pilot returned to take pace to overcome the British and take a new victory, precisely in the 1,000 race of the championship. There is the circumstance that Razgatlioglu has overcome race 800, 900 and now the 1,000 of the championship. Lowes had to settle for the second position in one of his best weekends, and Álvaro Bautista took out his potential to complete the podium. Locatelli and Vierge completed the TOP5.
While Bulega did not become competitive at any time of the race and, despite trying, he could only end tenth third, which meant not adding any point and, the worst, complicated his position for the starting grill of the second race.
SBK Hungary – Carrera 2: Toprak does not leave the crumbs
With his maximum rival forced to leave from the tenth place, Toprak was clear that he should maximize that advantage, and got to work when the traffic light of a completely dry track went out. Unbeatable, leading each and every one of the laps (it has 226 so far this season against 166 of Bulega and the 7 of Bautista, which is third in the ranking) the victory was also taken in a perfect weekend.
Behind precisely Bulega, more comfortable in these conditions, was gaining positions until he reached the second position in the sixth round, but without options to fight with toprak although minimizing the loss of points. Sam Lowes, confirming those sensations of the whole weekend, added a new podium with third position.
A podium in which Álvaro Bautista could not be, who fought for him when he went to the ground. Danilo Petrucci, who was one of those who failed with the choice of tires in the superpole Race, managed to overcome to the fourth place ahead of Locatelli, Alex Lowes and an Xavi Vierge that has been able to curdle a consistent weekend.
Aegerter, Bassani and Montela completed the top10 of the last race before the summer holidays, which will be extended until the first weekend of September.
