Markus Flaschgeneral director of BMW Motorradis clear when asked about the launch of the brand’s latest sports creature: “What I like most about the new BMW F 450 RR is how light, direct and precise it is to drive. For me, that’s exactly what a Supersport should be. It’s a lot of fun on twisty roads and performs just as well on the track.”
Concludes: “At the same time, it clearly carries the DNA of our RR models. For me, it is the perfect gateway to the world of BMW RR motorcycles”. To achieve this result, special attention has been paid to the chassis engineering, applying a specific geometry for supersport motorcycles, rigorous weight optimization and an efficient parallel twin-cylinder engine.
Its design clearly follows the current design language of the S 1000 RR. This is evident both in its driving position and in the characteristic RR flight line and ailerons. Asymmetrical side fairing panels, right-side gills and split front end add distinctive touches. The LED headlight, with its characteristic RR daytime running light design, defines the distinctive look of the bike.
Engine of the BMW F 450 RR 2027
The heart of the new BMW F 450 RR is the 420 cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled parallel-twin Euro 5+ engine, used for the first time in the F 450 GS. The brand declares a power of 35 kW (48 HP) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpmwith 80% of it available from 3,000 laps. Technically, it stands out for equipping a crankshaft set at 135 degrees.
This works together with a balance shaft to combine characterful power delivery, smooth operation and low vibrations. Magnesium covers for the clutch and transmission contribute to weight optimization. The block is directly associated with a six-speed gearbox. Optionally, you can mount the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) and the Shift Assistant Pro, which allows you to drive and change gears without having to manually operate the clutch.
The electronic part that assists the engine includes the “Rain”, “Road” and “Race” driving modes. ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR) also come standard. With an average consumption of 3.8 liters per 100 km and a 14-litre fuel tank, the F 450 RR achieves a autonomy of more than 350 km. The maintenance interval is the usual BMW Motorrad one: 10,000 km.
Cycle part of the BMW F 450 RR 2027
The new BMW F 450 RR uses as its technical basis a tubular frame made of welded steel tubes and forged components, with the parallel twin-cylinder engine integrated as a supporting element. Front suspension is controlled by a KYB 43mm inverted telescopic fork and the rear by a hollow cast aluminum double swingarm with a direct-mount KYB central shock absorber with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping.
The new BMW F 450 RR has cast aluminum wheels equipped with tubeless tires measuring 110/70-17 at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear. They integrate the braking system consisting of a 310 mm floating front disc with a four-piston Brembo monobloc fixed caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a single-piston ByBre floating caliper.
The set comes combined with BMW Motorrad’s ABS Pro for safe braking, even when cornering. Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Dynamic Brake Light provide additional safety features. In ergonomic terms, the new BMW F 450 RR comes standard with a two-piece seat at a height of 790mm. The brand declares a curb weight of only 177kg.
Equipment and finishes of the BMW F 450 RR 2027
