The DANA has caused countless losses in the affected areas. In addition to the irreplaceable human losses, the floods have also caused countless material losses. Regarding the automotive sector, there was talk that there could be more than 400,000 vehicles affected, the majority belonging to individuals. That’s why Traffic will give temporary withdrawal of the affected vehicles and will simplify the procedures so as not to cause more headaches for the thousands of victims.
What the DGT will do is temporarily terminateex officio to all cars known to have been damaged by DANA. They will be informed by taking the data through the Insurance Compensation Consortium and the corresponding authorities. What this does directly is benefit the owners of the vehicles, since it will save them from that procedure that, if they do not carry it out on time, would make them they were charged road tax next year, something that is done on January 1, 2025.
For vehicles that have not yet been identified, their owners will also be able to request temporary deregistration in a simple way. Another advantage of this measure is that it saves them the cost of this procedure, since when it is done ex officio they will be exempt from the fee of 8.67 euros. On the other hand, if you want to permanently deregister and remove a vehicle that has been severely affected from circulation, you should notify Authorized Environmental Treatment Center for its destruction. It is the only way to decontaminate and destroy cars in accordance with environmental criteria.
The other procedure that they want to simplify is that of duplicate driving license. Many users will have lost this documentation or it has been destroyed, so they can request it by making a responsible declaration that their vehicle has been affected by DANA. For these procedures you can call 060, enter the DGT website and also through the miDGT application. On the other hand, the electronic driving license also appears in the application, which has the same validity than that issued on paper.
