Triumph Motorcycles Triumph strengthens its presence in the off-road world with the relaunch and marketing of the OSET brand. Since Triumph took over 100% of the electric motorcycle firm in 2022, the entire development team has focused on the launch of the TXP range, benefiting from synergies with the R&D, production and logistics structure of the century-old motorcycle brand.
The British brand is strengthening its commitment to meeting the needs of all motorcycle enthusiasts. On this occasion, it is facilitating access to off-roading for young riders and their families with a range of products that allows motorcyclists, from 6 years old, to acquire or improve their riding skills until adulthood.
OSET Bikes: Focused on offering light, robust and safe electric motorcycles
OSET Bikes, founded in 2004 by Ian Smith who remains the CEO of the brand and is actively involved in product development, was looking to create an electric trials bike for his son Oliver, hence the name OSET (Oliver Smith Electric Trials)Since its inception, the company has focused on offering lightweight, robust and safe electric motorcycles for children and young people.
Many current champions have started their careers on an OSET. In the words of Santiago Mulás, General Manager of Triumph Spain: “Ten years ago OSET came to dominate the British Youth Trials Championship, and combustion bikes simply disappeared from the 50cc class.”
Concludes: “Now, with the experience and vision of OSET and the resources, engineering and quality standards of Triumph, the new TXP range arrives in Spain ready to change the rules of the game again, both in competition and for the simple enjoyment and learning of many more fans and future riders.”
The acquisition by Triumph came at a key moment in the young company’s evolution, as OSET was looking for an investor to launch its TXP range on the market. With Triumph’s support, OSET has been able to benefit from a robust production structure, a cutting-edge research and development area and efficient logistics.
Similarly, Triumph’s strategic move allows it to draw on OSET’s knowledge and experience. This union is already yielding the first results with the manufacture and marketing of the first OSET range of the Triumph era: The 20” and 24” TXPwith a configuration suitable for trials and also for a wide variety of off-road uses.
OSET TXP Series: Trials, Xplore & Play
While previous OSET models focused exclusively on trials, the new bikes coming to market from Triumph expand their capabilities to include more versatile and recreational use thanks to the incorporation of an easy-to-assemble and disassemble seat that allows for 2 configurations.
Not in vain, the new TXP range from OSET represents a significant evolution in the design and functionality of electric motorcycles with that triple focus of Trials, Xplore & Play. According to Ian Smith: “The aim of OSET Bikes is to get kids riding and having fun, whether it’s racing trials, exploring or just playing. We understand that a traditional trial bike without a seat can seem like a strange concept, so we offer two possibilities.”
He concludes: “The same bike will suit both an amateur rider and someone competing at the highest level in trials. You just need to adjust your riding preferences and change the seat to suit your skill and type of use.” Every component of the new TXP 20 and TXP 24 models has been developed from scratch to deliver a segment-leading experience.
In terms of technology, the highlights include the new lithium batteries, which are smaller and have greater capacity and power; brushless motors; a control panel that can be adjusted for speed, power and throttle response for different skill levels and driving preferences; and a parental lock with a key.
At the chassis level, the traditional trial frame is complemented by the integration of a seat unit that offers an easy change in the configuration of the bike. From Trial to Xplore or Play, greatly expanding its range of use and learning, from the highest competition in trial, to a more recreational use, which also requires greater autonomy, performance and quality.
The air suspension system can be adjusted according to the weight of the rider, from children and pre-teens to adults. TXP 20 It is designed for children from 6 to 9 years old and its price is 3.495 euros.
