There are few sports cars today with the tradition and iconicity of the GSX-R1000. A model that was born as such right at the dawn of this century and that over the last 25 years has delighted superbike lovers in general and those of the Japanese brand in particular. Now, have you ever imagined seeing the mechanics of the model tucked into the meager silhouette of a Supermotard-MX?
Well, it is no longer necessary for you to continue cooking the idea in your head because someone has turned it into a reality. His name is Dany, he is Polish and also the creator of this impressive “RM-Z1000”a preparation that is born as a consequence of wanting to have “a motorcycle with such an engine, such power and such a light chassis”as its own creator explains.
Suzuki “RM-Z1000” GSX-R1000 in detail
We all know the potential that the Suzuki GSX-R1000 has developed over the years. In the case of this “RM-Z1000” it equips the mechanics that at the time powered the fourth generation of the model. As MCN colleagues described it at the time, referring to its 164 HP of power:
“The performance is dazzling: obscene, indecent, intoxicating. Step on the accelerator in any gear except the first two and everything turns upside down. Unlike many sports bikes, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 has great low-rev thrust and a toughness that no one would consider dull.”
So, what would happen if we put that same engine in a Supermotard or Offroad style preparation (depending on the day) of just 150 kilos?… The answer is that it must be something truly exciting to open the gas handle without contemplation, as long as you have the courage to do it.
And we make this issue clear basically because it also has a nitrous oxide system installed, being able to increase the already stratospheric standard power up to 190 HP. To ensure that the “RM-Z1000” manages to assimilate the enormous amount of features coming from Suzuki’s L4, Dany has built a custom chassis that, like the extra-long rear swingarm, seeks above all to offer the necessary rigidity and stability under strong accelerations.
About this, he himself comments to his Bike Bound colleagues: “I was inspired by the Hill Climb race, which is very popular in the United States; many people in that country race these bikes.” Other technical characteristics to take into account are, for example:
- Suspension of a KTM 525 SMR
- GSX-R rear wheel
- KTM front wheel with supermoto finish
- Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird Radiator
- Suzuki RMZ 2025 body
Finally, speaking about how it works, Dany comments: “The riding experience is indescribable. The RMZ accelerates incredibly well thanks to this design. The motorcycle’s transmission is custom-made, with larger sprockets that make it a true acceleration beast.” We have no doubt that everything he says must be true.
