Ultraviolette F77 contact, introduction
If you are a regular reader of this medium, you have surely already heard of the Ultraviolette brand. Behind this new Indian manufacturer of electric motorcycles is an industry giant such as Rhino Electric Motors, the parent company that also sponsors Velca.
In the case of Ultraviolette, the bet is clear: a design that does not leave anyone indifferent; a lot of technology; and also certain technical characteristics that, as happens with Zero Motorcycles, seek to attract the attention of users who are not so motorcycle fans.
The Ultraviolette F77 is an electric motorcycle similar to a 125 in terms of regulations, but not in terms of performance. As an advance, and mentioning Zero’s strategy again, this model is capable of deploying for a short period of time a power much higher than what the law legally allows.
Its launch in Spain has been with the F77, which comes in two variants, Mach 2 and Super Street, and which we have been able to test at the Ángel Burgueño circuit. It should be noted that the track is not the natural habitat and that the choice of such a scenario is more related to marketing issues than to “a real litmus test”, although it does offer us the first glimpses of what the Indian factory has prepared to assault the electric motorcycle market, whose use extends beyond the city.
Ultraviolette F77 touchdown: the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is the sports variant of this electric duo; and can be seen by the closed handlebar configuration, advanced forward and with a rear pivot that forces the body to carry the weight in front. The commitment to design is total, with a futuristic image through an extremely compact block and very sharp lines. The idea is to be able to leave the city behind and enjoy a good curvy road.
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 approves a weight of 207 kg, which is not an exaggeratedly high figure considering the battery pack it has. It is also a “friendly” motorcycle for short riders, as its seat is placed 800 mm from the ground, which allows you to easily reach it with both feet. On the circuit, those 207 kg were not noticed at any time, allowing the bike to be moved with the ease with which a thought is executed.
Mechanically, it develops a peak power of up to 40 HP (30 kW), while the nominal power is 11 HP (9.5 kW). In this way, users of the A1 or B license with three years of experience benefit from an interesting kick in the first meters after accelerating fully.
This not only increases fun, but also safety when traveling through urban environments. Of course, also courtesy of a not inconsiderable 100 Nm of instant torque. On the track, as they were very tight curves, this acceleration was very evident, although some caution had to be exercised, since the feel of the gas was very sensitive. Added to this is a maximum speed of 155 km/h, which is perfect for driving on the highway.
The cycle part of this Ultraviolette F7 7Mach opts for an inverted fork with 41 mm legs and a monoshock, both options with adjustable preload. The brakes are by Bybre, with a four-piston caliper that bites a 320 mm disc at the front, as well as a single-piston caliper and a 230 disc at the rear. There is also dual-channel ABS.
As I have already mentioned before, the circuit is not the scenario that the Indians thought of when launching said model. The suspensions feel soft and the braking system becomes stressed after a few laps. MRF tires are along the same lines and suffer greatly from overheating if the ambient temperature is high. However, they are sensations that will undoubtedly disappear as soon as this motorcycle travels on the road. It does have merit that it becomes a fun motorcycle on the track, without gear changes to just enjoy facing each curve.
And what about its autonomy. The circuit is not a place where you worry about such things. However, the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 approves a maximum range of 231 km through a 10.3 kWh capacity battery, being capable of charging from 20 to 80% in approximately 2.5 hours.
At a technological level is where the F77 Mach 2 stands out the most. Through its fully digital screen, you can access three driving modes, up to 10 levels of regenerative braking, reverse gear, four levels of traction control or even slope control. Without a doubt, functionalities that make life easier in day-to-day circulation.
By taking advantage of its regenerative braking mode in the highest mode, one can forget about applying the front brake, gaining valuable extra kilometers of autonomy in the process.

This variant offers a little more versatility through a handlebar that is slightly higher and inclined towards the rider. This promotes a more upright posture and more efficient driving in urban environments.
For the rest, we have the same technical specifications, with 40 HP of peak power; 155 km/h maximum speed or about 231 km of autonomy, which for the city allows you to spend several days without having to recharge the motorcycle. Obviously, on the track, its lighter stance makes it a motorcycle that is not as effective and less fun than its sportier sister.
