White smoke! MotoGP and the factories have reached an agreement

MotoGP is a commercial product and as such it must generate money. The truth is that this is how it has been for a long time, and thanks to the work done by Dorna and Ezpeleta for so many years, they managed to make it profitable as a business. So much so that Liberty Media took over the Spanish company and the rights.

But that business is supported, among others, by the manufacturers. And as a fundamental pillar of the MotoGP we know, they also wanted their piece of the pie. So since it had to be distributed when the previous agreement came to an end and a new one was established for the period 2027-2031, things got serious.

So much so as to have experienced unusual situations, such as the fact that as of today there are no confirmed signings or movements. Only the pilots who announced their continuity before the negotiations began to get tense are officially known.

Manufacturers wanted to change the way money is distributed in MotoGP

No wonder, because what was on the table was not a distribution of money but of percentages. Until now, manufacturers received a fixed amount, regardless of the money the promoter got. The idea that the manufacturers had was a percentage, giving the factories, so to speak, shares in the championship and distributing profits.

As reported by Motorsport.com, it seems that this idea that the manufacturers had has finally been rejected and they will continue with the assignments. However, it seems that despite this there has ended up being an agreement that both parties will make public, if nothing happens, during the next Czech GP, which will take place from June 19 to 21 in Brno.

The brands are what support the championship, hence their demands

Apparently, there are still some aspects to finish outlining and that include changes in some other aspects. It must be remembered that one of the proposals on the table and proposed by the manufacturers, was to eliminate the second motorcycle. Perhaps it was just a measure of pressure in the negotiations or, perhaps, it is one of the changes that are coming in a championship that seeks to increase its global recognition even if it loses part of its essence.
