800 km with a tank!!! This is the Bilston 125 from the reborn AJS Motorcycles, a retro for the A1

AJS Motorcycles returns on its own with the new Bilston 125, a mount that, in the brand’s own words, is “Ergonomically designed for daily travel, providing ease and comfort on every trip.” To this we must add the typical retro style that all their models offer us, as well as a general simplicity that is reflected in any essential aspect of the motorcycle: Final price, manufacturing, technical configuration, etc.

The new AJS model, which we have learned about thanks to our colleagues at MCN, is inspired by current frames such as the new Triumph Speed 400, for example. Its design combines the classic touch that is so popular now with more modern details, such as 17” alloy wheels or stainless steel finishes like the one shown by its side exhaust system.

AJS Bilston 125: Ideal driving school

As we already anticipated in the presentation of the new range of AJS Motorcycles models, the formula used is simple and we have already seen it in other brands in the sector. Design in the United Kingdom and manufacturing in China, also using the 125 cc engine used in the Yamaha YBR125. All this combined with current technical solutions that allow it to adapt without problems to current legal regulations, the already known Euro5.

Thus, in the Bilston 125 we have a 124 cm³ four-stroke, air-cooled OHC engine, associated with a 5-speed gearbox. This offers us up to 11.4 HP of power at 9,000 rpmmanaging to reach a maximum speed of about 100km/h.

The brand approves a weight in running order of 132kgincluding the 19 liters of gasoline that they take in their tank, the same ones that offer us commendable autonomy close to the 800 kilometers.

Equipa is anchored by alloy wheels shod with 90/90-17 and 130/80-17 tires at the front and rear respectively. The seat is located at 780 mm, while the wheelbase declares a total figure of 1,340 mm. Its final dimensions in terms of length, width and maximum height are 2,050 mm x 785 mm x 1,080 mm.

If we talk about equipment and finishes, the Bilston 125 maintains that philosophy in which simplicity prevails. The LCD instrument panel offers detailed information on speed, rpm, gear speed or fuel gauge, among others. It has LED lighting and the brand also offers us up to three color schemes to configure our specimen: Foundry Black, Ember Red and Steel Blue.
