A new and interesting sports-style naked “shows its legs” for 2025. We talk about the future Zontes ZT 703 Rthird model of the Chinese brand that will mount the new batch of three-cylinder engine that it has already implemented in two of its most recent developments: 703 RR and 703 F. Recently shown at EICMA 2024, its arrival in the Zontes range is expected at over the next few months.
There is no doubt that this new ZT 703 R comes to further tighten the competitive category in which it is included. In it we find rivals at the level of the CFMoto 675 NK, Honda CB750 Hornet, Triumph Trident 660, Yamaha MT-07 or the well-known Kawasaki Z650. All of them have a perfect balance between sportiness, versatility and performance, as well as a sales price within the reach of a large sector of the population.
Zontes ZT 703 R in detail
That said, what can we expect from the new ZT 703 R? To answer this question, it is best to take a look at its two range sisters, in particular the 703 RR, a sports car that combines a sharp design, cutting-edge technology and high-level equipment. Like this one, the future ZT 703 R will be equipped with the high compression engine designed and manufactured by the brand itself.
We are talking about a 699 cc three-cylinder engine associated with a 6-speed gearbox with ascending Quickshift. The brand declares a maximum power of 95 HP at 11,200 revolutions, while the torque generated rises to 74.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm. All this in compliance with the latest Euro 5+ in terms of anti-pollution regulations. In addition, like its sister, it will have a version limited to 35 kW for those owners of the current A2.
This latest generation engine, powered by an efficient Ram Air system, incorporates advanced technologies such as forged pistons, DLC treatment on internal components, cylinders integrated into the upper crankcase, balance shaft and slipper clutch. Other technical details that stand out in this ZT 703 R are, for example, as explained by the colleagues at La Moto, having a fuel tank with up to 18.5 liters of capacity. This translates into ranges of more than 350 km, taking into account that Zontes announces a consumption of around 5 L/100 km.
The cycle part should be very similar to that used in the sports version; Therefore we would have an elaborate frame, with all the components made of aluminum, including the swingarm and the removable subframe. The fully adjustable suspensions, signed by Marzocchi, use an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock.
The braking system is provided by J. Juan, with four-piston front radial brake calipers and a radial pump, along with 300 mm semi-floating discs. The equipment is anchored to 17” alloy wheels, shod with Michelin Power 6 tires in sizes 120/70-17 and 180/55-17, front and rear respectively.
In terms of equipment and finishes, the ZT 703 R will have a 6.75-inch TFT screen that will offer us a large amount of information, including tire pressure and temperature, navigation and connectivity. Also Full-LED lighting, backlit pineapples, a keyless start system or heated grips. The latter, probably, optionally.
