After the launch of the Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario, the most radical variant ever approved for the road with solutions directly inherited from MotoGP, the Italian firm still had an even bigger surprise in store for the celebrations of its 100th anniversary. And this came just a few days ago during the presentation of the “Manual of Made in Italy according to Ducati”.
During the celebration event, an even more exclusive special and limited series was also announced: the Superleggera V4 Centenario Tricolore. Presented as a world premiere by the Minister of Business Adolfo Urso and Claudio Domenicali, it represents the maximum expression of Ducati technology applied to a motorcycle approved for road use. It also sports the iconic decoration based on the official colors of the Italian flag.
Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario Tricolore: authentic symbol of “Made in Italy”
Keeping intact the technical, mechanical and electronic basis of the aforementioned Superleggera V4 Centenario, this special Tricolore edition stands out for its exclusive decoration inspired by the 750 F1winner of the “Battle of the Twins” at Daytona International Speedway in 1986 with Marco Lucchinelli.
We are talking about the last “classic” two-valve competition model and one of the most emblematic and exclusive Ducati of the ’80s. A stylistic choice that expresses the continuous dialogue between history and innovation, evoking past glories and reinterpreting them in a contemporary way. It is also positioned as the maximum expression of Ducati technology applied to a street motorcycle.
Among its main technological boasts is having become the first in the world to incorporate a braking system with carbon-ceramic discs and a fork with carbon fiber bars derived from MotoGP, capable of reaching a maximum power of 228 HP. Its 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale engine can offer up to 247 HP mounting an Akrapovič racing exhaust.
In the words of the Italian minister: “The Superleggera V4 Centenario Tricolore represents its maximum expression, embodying the most advanced evolution of the brand’s technology.” And this is confirmed when we delight in the technical configuration that surrounds a motorcycle of this caliber, where magnesium and carbon become the main materials with which a good part of its components have been built:
- Titanium intake valves
- Manually adjusted desmodromic distribution
- Lightened crankshaft with tungsten inserts
- Two-ring “box-in-box” pistons
- Titanium connecting rods and hardware
- Frame (carbon)
- Swingarm (carbon)
- Subframe (carbon)
- Rims (carbon)
The final delight comes when we notice the rest of the elements that make up its cycle part and electronic section: Ohlins “black leg” suspensions, Brembo carbon-ceramic discs approved for the road and made of C/SiC compound or electronics derived from MotoGP are part of this configuration.
As unique but there is its price, over 200,000 eurosand that only 100 lucky people will be able to enjoy a copy.
