The 2026 Qatar GP will be one of the strangest in recent years. First because it was displaced from its original date due to the war conflicts in the area and, second, because those conflicts continue and the fear of being trapped there has meant that there was a great tug of war about whether to go or not. Yamaha will be the big absentee, as will Álex Márquez who is recovering from clavicle surgery. But those who will be there will be Marc Márquez, Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi.
The three are the main contenders for the title, not the only ones because right now Pedro Acosta could achieve it mathematically although it is not a feasible option. The rest of the grid is ruled out after the Malaysian GP and there are even mathematical options for Marc Márquez to be crowned Losail champion.
The math is there, but the reality is that we won’t know until Sunday night. Because for Marc to win the title in Qatar he will have to add 30 more points than Martín throughout the weekend, and the Madrid native is going to try to compete. Waiting to know if he will finally be able to do it and under what conditions, Marc also has to score 7 more points than Bezzecchi throughout the weekend. At first the second might seem easier than the first, but the Italian will go all out on a track that is not one of Márquez’s favorites.
To all this we must add, obviously, the peculiarity that Qatar is held in very different conditions, and that they only occur for the drivers once a year, such as racing at night. Of course, at least when it comes to rain, the paddock will be calm this weekend. Another thing will be concerns for the physical integrity of all the members of a paddock, which this weekend will be smaller than usual. Although to do this, the organizer has drawn up and communicated security plans in case the anti-aircraft alarms start ringing.
Where to watch the 2026 Qatar Grand Prix
We have no choice but to continue paying to watch the races during the 2026 Qatar Grand Prix. As always, in Spanish, DAZN is the main option, either through its own platform or through DAZN 1, the channel it has on Movistar+.
Also offering everything that happens on the track, plus press conferences and other content, the MotoGP Videopass is the second option due to the fact that the narrations are in English. For now, to watch races and training live there are no more options.
