Bajaj is already testing its first Adventure: the trail that could be born with KTM DNA

This is not the first time that there has been speculation about the possibility that Bajaj is working on its future and first Adventure model. What is new is the fact that a test mule has been spotted among the thick Indian traffic. Specifically in the vicinity of Varve, near Pune, as confirmed by the Ride Apart colleagues after echoing some images published by the On 2 Wheels Instagram account.

Here’s what we know about Bajaj’s future ADV model

In mid-2024, the possibility that Bajaj was preparing a new ADV model based on the platform that debuted with the Pulsar NS400Z began to be considered. Then we also made reference to the specific kits for the Dominar range, developed by a local specialist, with which to convert a conventional naked into an Offroad image mount.

However, after the latest images of a test mule of the expected Bajaj model were revealed, the idea that it could be developed under a common scheme with the current road range sold by the brand is called into question. Both the shapes and the equipment it carries offer us a completely different vision than the one we had just two years ago.

Now the theory of a completely new motorcycle that could inherit the main structure with some KTM model. In fact, the general lines shown on this test mule share some parallels with the Adventure models of the orange firm. In any case, we highlight from its main configuration the addition of very common elements within this segment, such as:

  • 19-inch front and 17-inch rear radial tires
  • High front fender
  • Compact one-piece seat that extends to the front of the tank
  • Long-term suspensions, etc.

Other accessories to take into account for this unit in question are the rear luggage rack and the corresponding top case anchored to it. Without leaving the rear axle, attention is drawn to the compact lines that shape the rear section, which includes an LED lighting system similar to that of other Bajaj models.

Without a doubt one of the most recurring doubts surrounding the development of the Indian group’s new ADV model is the type of mechanics that it will end up implementing. At this point, some local media are betting on the 249 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that powers the current KTM 250 Adventure. This develops around 31 HP of power and 25 Nm of maximum torquefigures that could put it at the head of the category, at least as far as the Indian market is concerned.

Models like the Hero Xpulse 210, the Suzuki V-Strom SX and the Yezdi Adventure and even the TVS Apache RTX 300 They would become de facto its main rivals. Then it would remain to be seen how a variant focused on international markets could become, probably somewhat more powerful and divided into different equipment versions. An aspect that is still too early to dispel, since the launch of the model is not expected until at least the final stages of this 2026 or beginning of next 2027.
