In the early stages of last August, Bultaco announced the beginning of a new stage with the help of Leonart Motors with the GT 300 Rallya 300 cc model developed together with the team Bultaco Racing. In any case, the brand has placed the model, from the first moment, in a very specific field: that of an accessible, balanced motorcycle designed to be used on a daily basis.
200 kilometers of testing through Los Monegros
After its official launch in our country, the Rally GT 300 continues to gain prominence within the new stage of the Spanish firm. The model now faces a demanding test program aimed at demonstrating its reliability, resistance and durability in the field. The last appointment has taken the 300 cc four-stroke to Los Monegros, where has completed a journey of 200 kilometers.
Its fast tracks, rocky areas, ruts, unevenness, loose dirt and eroded surfaces allow very different situations to be concentrated in the same day and to evaluate the behavior of the motorcycle in the face of continuous changes in terrain and conditions: Temperature, dust, vibrations, air filtration, cooling, transmission, brakes, suspensions, tires and ergonomics become fundamental elements when the objective is to maintain a constant pace.
Test Highlights
During the test, one of the most notable aspects was the balance between the engine and the weight of the Rally GT 300. Its four-stroke engine offers a progressive and controllable delivery, especially useful at low and medium speeds. A feature that allows you to better manage traction when the terrain loses grip and, at the same time, makes it easier to maintain a sustained pace without constantly demanding the driver.
In the most open areas, The Rally GT 300 allowed us to ride at a good pace with stability and confidence. When stones, ruts or rapid changes of direction appeared, the lightness and maneuverability of the assembly made it easier to control the motorcycle. The day also allowed us to test different exhaust configurations and collect information on their behavior in different usage regimes, from fast tracks to slower and more technical sections.
The suspensions were another point subjected to a particularly intense test. The variety of terrain in Los Monegros allowed us to work on the compromise between absorption capacity, precision and grip. To minimize the risk of punctures, the motorcycles used mousse tires, which were also subjected to long hours of operation and significant temperature changes.
In search of a perfect general balance
But the main objective of the day was not to seek maximum speed or to push the Rally GT 300 to the limit for a few kilometers. The real test was to see how the assembly responds after hours of use and to what extent it can maintain its performance, its behavior and its ease of driving as the kilometers pass.
In this type of tests, reliability does not depend solely on the engine. Also involved are the resistance of all the components, the ability of the suspensions to maintain their behavior, cooling, transmission and, especially, ergonomics capable of reducing pilot fatigue.
After 200 kilometers in Los Monegros, the Rally GT 300 confirmed precisely one of the attributes that Bultaco wants to highlight: a light, balanced, comfortable and predictable motorcycle, capable of combining good pace on open tracks with ease of driving when the terrain becomes complicated.
Four Bultaco Rally GT 300 heading to Morocco
The brand has already confirmed that the next challenge will take this program one step further. Four Bultaco Rally GT 300 units will travel to Morocco coinciding with the celebration of their homonymous Rally. The bikes will not participate in the competition, but will continue their journey as part of a specific testing and development program.
