CFMOTO wants to dethrone Ducati and Aprilia with its V4. It is already the fastest Chinese motorcycle in history

CFMOTO has just marked a new technological milestone within Chinese borders: get your V4 SR-RR to a GPS-verified top speed of 197.82 mphbecoming de facto the fastest Chinese internal combustion motorcycle ever recorded. Not only that, since it also vastly surpasses (sticking to the official figures declared by each brand) two of the reference models in the category: Ducati Panigale V4 and Aprilia RSV4.

What’s behind the record achieved by the V4 SR-RR

Presented to the media and the public attending the last EICMA 2025, the CFMOTO V4 SR-RR has probably become one of the most relevant innovations in the sector in recent years. And it is for many reasons, but mainly because of the fact that with it the Chinese firm has sent us a clear message: “We are ready to compete face to face with any of the leading brands in the sector.”

And let no one be mistaken; We are not talking solely and exclusively about the category where the V4 SR-RR is included. CFMOTO has put its head into the main segments of the world of two wheels and everything indicates that sooner rather than later they will put each and every one of the reference companies that make it up on the ropes: CFMOTO 1000MT-X, 800NK or 125SC-F are some of these proposals.

That is why this recent speed record helps the Asian company to “build muscle” by putting on the table the wide technological arsenal they have. The same one that they later apply in the R&D process of their new models. In fact, after achieving this mark, CFMOTO argued:

“The importance of this record lies in what it reveals about the technology, engineering and ambition behind the project. Not long ago, the idea of a Chinese manufacturer developing a V4-powered superbike capable of competing with the world’s most prestigious high-performance motorcycles would have seemed impossible.”

Furthermore, the brand uses an infallible commercial resource to highlight its new model: the comparison with what will be its direct rivals in the near future. These are, as it could not be otherwise, the two Italian superbikes par excellence. Both the Ducati Panigale V4 and the Aprilia RSV4 are behind the V4 SR-RR in terms of declared (not actual) top speed.

Although the maximum power is similar in any of the three, those from Borgo Panigale approve a maximum speed of 299 km/h, while the Noale firm states that its most extreme sports car is capable of catapulting up to 305 km/h. CFMOTO alludes to three main factors with which, for the moment, it has managed to position itself ahead of the transalpine companies: technical architecture, active aerodynamics and final power.

From a technical point of view, the V4 SR-RR has a 997 cc 90° V4 engine. Its curb weight is less than 200 kg, while the crankshaft power exceeds 210 HP. With a weight/power ratio of 0.86 (dry weight with racing exhaust kit), it reaches a reference level of less than 1 kg per HP, placing it among the best in its category. Something, on the other hand, that they demonstrate with this new record.
