ContiSportAttack 5 and TKC 80 Gen 2

The German tire manufacturer Continental has just presented its first two new products for 2026. These are the new ContiSportAttack 5 and the second generation TKC 80.

With them, the Germans want to improve the performance over the previous tires, in this case, for sports and off-road motorcycles, respectively. Of course, they also do not forget to continue taking care of such important aspects as wet grip or the total durability of the casing.

We have to go back to 2020 to find the predecessor of this new rubber. Five years goes a long way in terms of development, and for that reason, this new ContiSportAttack 5 comes loaded with innovations for those who enjoy the road/track duality. In this regard, the Germans indicated that their use lies 80/20% in favor of the road, leaving the ContiRaceAttack 2 Street and ContiRaceAttack 2 for those who do more circuits.

Getting to work, these new Continentals focus on performance. Thus, they guarantee great grip thanks to the BlackChili compound, which now receives a new formula to offer more homogeneous wear if you choose to enter the circuit. And speaking of the track, the ContiSportAttack offer faster heating of the tread, so they do not require heaters.

Internally, the casing has a new arrangement of the steel belts that come together under the name MultizoneBelt. In practice, this allows greater stability in a straight line, but also a greater contact surface at times of maximum inclination. With these characteristics, Continental’s new sports tire can be mounted on Supersport and naked motorcycles, but also on Superbikes, as it has been designed for speeds of up to 320 km/h.

The ContiSportAttack 5 will be introduced in the first quarter of 2026 with five key measurements: 120/70 ZR17; 160/60 ZR17; 180/55 ZR17; 190/55 ZR17 and 200/55 ZR17. The price has not yet been confirmed by the German brand.

For 40 years, the TKC 80 has been Continental’s offroad reference for trail adventure motorcycles. Four decades later, the replacement comes in response to a market that brings more and more adventurous models with more technology every year. That is why the Bavarians have decided to launch a second generation of their TKC 80 with interesting new features and 50/50 use.

At the heart of the Continental TKC 80 Gen 2 is a new tread design with larger lugs that have been relocated and now feature additional leading edges to improve grip in low-adhesion conditions. Added to all this is a larger contact surface both in a straight line and at full inclination.

In addition to this fairness when traveling on or off-road, the Germans have also worked to offer a better balance between grip and wear resistance thanks to RainGrip technology. They have also not forgotten about comfort -by having studs-, providing the shell with a cushioning function. And the best of all? That the Continental TKC 80 Gen 2 will coexist with its predecessor, since the German brand has considered that the original TKC 80 still has enough arguments to remain in the market.

The Continental TKC 80 Gen will be launched during the spring of 2026 and will arrive in the following sizes: 100/90 19; 110/80B 19; 120/70 19 and 90/90 21 for the front axle and 130/80 17; 150/70B 170/60B 17; 120/90 18; 140/80 18 and 15070B 18 for the rear axle. There are no confirmed prices yet.
