There may be those who consider that taking an engine from a 1994 Honda CR500 and putting it inside a chassis from a 2020 Honda CRF450R should be punished with a few lashes, and even some jail time. But it is possible that whoever thinks that has only stayed with the idea, and has not seen this incredible preparation that comes to us from the United States and in which neither time nor money has been spared.
So much so that this CR500-CRF450R hybrid, which is for sale through Ebay, has required, according to its seller, an outlay in parts of $26,489. If we convert that amount to euros with the current exchange rate we would be talking about a total of 25,824, not counting the countless hours it takes to leave the motorcycle as it can be seen.
In fact, in the sales section it lists the parts and costs one by one, including legalizing the entire package. Because the best thing about this hybrid of CR500 with CRF450R is that it can be driven legally, at least in the United States.
The CR500/CFR450R hybrid is armed to the teeth
Thanks to that list we see not only the astonishing amount of money, but also some more than interesting pieces of the set. Thus, we find Öhlins in the suspension section or Beringer in the brakes.
It must be said, for those who do not know, that Beringer is one of the most prestigious brands in the world of supermoto. We also see the hand-made Pro Circuit exhaust, with the Scalvini double carbon silencer, Alpina rims, Sumo tires and a swingarm that belonged to one of the legendary Aprilia SXV 450.
All this is part of a personal project that the owner has carried out in recent years, and now he needs to get rid of it because he is preparing a high-performance bagger. That’s why he’s asking for $23,500 (22,896 euros), which is significantly less money than he spent just on parts at the time. And that detail of “at the time” is important because now, with inflation, many of these pieces have increased in price.
If you are thinking of buying it, yes, you will have to travel to Lincoln, Pennsylvania (United States) and if you want to try it first you will have to leave the money first. The seller (in good judgment) does not trust the skills required to ride a motorcycle that, as he says, will try to rip your arms off.
