DANA causes losses in dealerships worth 490 million euros

The DANA that has recently devastated several parts of our country is one of the most impactful natural disasters in memory. It has mainly targeted the Valencian Community, where more than 200 fatalities have been recorded and dozens of people are still missing. The material damage has also been enormous and, focused on the automotive sector, has been recorded losses worth 490 million euros at dealerships of this region.

According to Faconauto, the dealer association, there are a total of 40 official points of sale affected. It is said that there are some 18,000 passenger cars that were in stock affected, adding up to losses of 430 million euros. Another 500 commercial vehicles are also affected and their value amounts to approximately 60 million euros. Now They seek to resume their activity and that those affected can recover their ability to travel, as well as the companies their logistical operation.

The Generalitat Valenciana has proposed allocating 200 million euros in aid to alleviate the damage caused in dealerships, something that would be very positive for the industry. There is also an aid plan in place so that those affected can access 80,000 passenger cars with affordable prices worth 864 million euros. For companies there would be the possibility of renewing 10,000 lost commercial vehicles thanks to 400 million euros. It is said that almost 459,000 vehicles are in the affected areas because of the floods. That represents 28% of the total for the province of Valencia. In addition, it is believed that more than half are over 10 years old and could have third-party coverage, with what that entails.
