The Ducati Desmo450 EDX is the Italian brand’s new proposal for the enduro and cross-country world. A motorcycle derived directly from the Desmo450 MX, but adapted to the demands of competitions where resistance is as important as speed. It maintains the Ducati spirit in competition – developing on the track to apply in series – and combines lightness, power and advanced electronic technology in a package designed for both professionals and amateurs.
Equipped with a 449.6 cc Desmo single-cylinder engine, the Desmo450 EDX delivers 63.5 HP at 9,400 rpm and 39.5 ft-lb of torque at 7,500 rpm, with the limiter at 11,900 rpm, figures that place it among the most powerful in its category. The desmodromic distribution, used in MotoGP and Superbike, allows for higher revs and a more linear response, in addition to offering 70% of the maximum torque at just 4,200 rpm, something that should help reduce rider fatigue and at the same time improve traction on technical sections.
The twin-spar aluminum chassis, identical to that of the MX version, weighs just 8.1 kg and offers an excellent balance between rigidity and handling. Of course, Ducati has adapted its geometry and components for enduro use, incorporating an 8.5 L tank, a specific seat and plastics, the 18″ rear wheel with Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tires, and a fully adjustable Showa suspension with settings also specific for enduro use. It should also be noted that the total weight without fuel is 107 kg.
In the brakes section, it has Brembo calipers with 260 mm Galfer discs at the front and 240 mm at the rear, while the swingarm is made of cast aluminum with a system of forged connecting rods.
The electronics of the Ducati Desmo450 EDX are the icing on the cake
One of its highlights is the electronics, with a package inherited from Ducati’s experience in MotoGP. The Ducati Desmo450 EDX features the first closed-loop off-road traction control0 A true closed-loop system that adjusts power delivery based on wheel slip and IMU measurements, instead of the usual controls where there is no measurement, and is based on predefined maps that vary power by estimates.
This Ducati Traction Control (DTC) offers four levels of intervention and can be temporarily disconnected using the clutch. In addition, it is equipped with Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, bi-directional Quickshifter and two Riding Modes configurable through the X-Link app.
Maintenance intervals have also been optimized: valve check and piston change every 45 hours, and complete engine check every 90 hours, figures that place it at the top of the segment in terms of durability.
The Ducati Desmo450 EDX will be delivered to Ducati Off-Road dealers in North America starting in January 2026, exclusively in Ducati Red. It will arrive as a motorcycle ready to race, equipped as standard with protections, skid plate, handguards and side stand.
With it, Ducati expands its presence in off-road with a light, powerful and technologically advanced machine that, without a doubt, raises the level of the category.
