Moto Guzzi is one of those brands that we can call “special”, as a result of which preparations such as “Saetta Racer” of Radical Speedshop that today we bring you to these lines.
A true bomb in the form of a cafe racer that, in addition to an intimidating image, has an elaborate mechanical work that literally manages to double the power of the production model used for this project: The Moto Guzzi Bellagio 940.
Moto Guzzi “Saetta Racer” in detail
The Bellagio 940 was one of those models that Moto Guzzi usually pulls out of its sleeve to the delight of its loyal followers. Exceptionally combining shades of custom and naked design, we find a motorcycle full of personality that, at the time, stood as the Italian brand’s sports option within the cruiser segment. Along with its sisters California and Nevada, the Bellagio showed a more marked character.
Its 936 cc longitudinal 90° V-twin engine together with the CARC (Compact Reactive Cardan) transmission and a six-speed gearbox made it de facto the sportiest motorcycle in its segment, thanks to handling very close to that of a typical retro-looking naked. This was also helped by a declared power of 74 HP at 7,200 rpm and 78 Nm of maximum torque at 6,000 revolutions.
Starting from this excellent platform, the people at Radical Speedshop have used their magic to turn the efficient Bellagio 940 into a true accelerating device. The “Saetta Racer” now has 1,700 cc of displacement thanks to incorporating a specific oversizing kit which includes, as detailed from Bike Bound, a long-stroke crankshaft, forged connecting rods, competition camshafts and a six-speed gearbox.
In addition, other key aspects of its engine have been modified, such as the power supply and exhaust, thanks to the installation of Keihin FCR41 and a custom titanium system. The final result of this mechanical party is 150 HP of power and 190 Nm of torque, for just 180 kilograms of weight, turning this “Saetta Racer” into the eternal source of happiness, every time whoever takes control turns the throttle fully.
Undoubtedly, the rest of the set also enjoys endless improvements, as well as the addition of complete equipment premium with which to manage the enormous amounts of power that reach the rear wheel. Among other modifications and accessories we can highlight:
- Fully custom chassis
- CARC swingarm
- V7 tank and seat
- Front inverted fork
- CNC seatposts
- Clip-on handlebars
- Ducati rims
- Beringer brakes, etc.
Its creator Stefan Bronold comments that he chose the nickname “Saetta Racer” “because it’s like driving lightning…” So this confirms that, in addition to a striking image, like any of the preparations that come out of his workshop, his latest work also offers a level of performance worthy of praise.
