everything we know about your long-awaited premium electric motorcycle

In March of last year 2023 we knew of the collaboration agreement between Zero and Hero MotoCorp for the development of premium electric models. Just a few months before, in September 2022, the Indian company announced a capital injection of 60 million dollarsabout 56 million euros at the exchange rate, in the accounts of the Californian brand, precisely to begin working in this new era where both brands are looking for a common denominator: the design and development of premium models within the electric segment.

Already in January of this same year, Zero and Hero MotoCorp once again showed signs of life in relation to this topic, predicting up to four new electric mounts for the coming years, the result of this collaboration. Let us also remember that Hero presented its new electric vehicle brand, VIDA, in the early stages of 2022. Mainly intended for the manufacturing and subsequent marketing of electric scooters, Pawan MunjalCEO of Hero, argued about this event: “We care about life: a good, clean, positive, optimistic life.”

Zero and Hero MotoCorp closer to their first collaborative model

Now, with just one month to go until the end of the year and thanks to the colleagues at Ride Apart, we have new information about the strategic plans of this collaboration between Zero and Hero MotoCorp. According to the last conference that Hero offered to report on its financial status and the total figures for the last quarter, Niranjan GuptaCEO of Hero, argued that the first model resulting from its strategic agreement with Zero Motorcycles is in an “advanced stage.”

Some sources close to the brand suggest that the new motorcycle that Zero and Hero MotoCorp are working on could be ready to be launched on the market. throughout the next year 2026. However, it is not yet very clear how Hero will end up marketing a model that is expected to be of a premium type and features included in the mid-range category. Although its VIDA brand, focused on the EV segment, would be the logical option to follow in this regard, it is likely that it will eventually be sold as a Hero MotoCorp product, within a new range designed for this.

The first mount of the alliance between Zero and Hero MotoCorp could arrive in 2026

This new model should be at the performance level of current motorcycles such as the Ultraviolette F77 or the RV400. At this point, the next question that comes to mind is whether the Indian brand will end up offering it outside its borders, especially in key places on the planet such as the US and the European Union. In this case, could the situation even arise where Zero Motorcycles would be in charge of its distribution? It’s too soon to know.
