Fermin Aldeguer will race with Gresini Racing MotoGP in 2025 and 2026

Fermín Aldeguer, a 19-year-old rider from Murcia, signed a two-year contract with Ducati in March, after finishing third in the Moto2 World Championship in 2023. Last season, the 54-year-old achieved five victories, the last four in a row. This allowed him to show himself, at his best, as a strong promise for the future and one of the riders to consider for moving up a category. The Bologna brand did not want to let him get away and put a contract in front of him, without being able to specify, then, which team he would end up riding for. Something completely logical, since the transfer market had not yet begun to stir.

The departure of Pramac Racing to Yamaha, together with the renewal of Fabio Di Giannantonio with the VR46 and the signing of Franco Morbidelli by the same team, left only one path open to Fermín Aldeguer: Take control of the Ducati Gresini that Marc Márquez will leave when, starting next year, the 93 begins to race alongside Pecco Bagnaia in the Ducati Lenovo.

In 2024, Fermín Aldeguer has added two more victories to his career, in Jerez and Sachsenring, bringing his total to seven wins in the intermediate category. Perhaps these results are somewhat far from the expectations of the rider and Ducati for the current season, as he currently remains 5th in the general classification, 50 points behind the leader Sergio García Dolls. But there is no doubt that the Murcian rider has more than shown his quality and that Gigi Dall’Igna must have had something very special to do with not letting him slip away.

“We are very pleased to extend our partnership with the Gresini family until 2026. The team led by Nadia Padovani has achieved great things in recent years, demonstrating all its strength and professionalism. Gresini Racing has also led several riders to victory, some of them very young. We are therefore certain that it is the ideal team to welcome Fermin Aldeguer and accompany him in his debut season in MotoGP. I would like to thank Nadia and the entire Gresini family once again. We look forward to living more exciting moments together.”

“Family spirit is the concept on which our team is based, and it applies to our entire World Championship history. It is a great pleasure for us to welcome one of the most promising young talents in the series and our aim will be to protect him and help him to make his way to the kind of results that distinguish us. He will be with us for the next two seasons and Ducati will also remain in our garage at least until 2026. We will be doubly happy, so welcome to the Fermin team!”

“I am very happy to join the Gresini family; it is an incredible opportunity to make my MotoGP debut on the best bike on the grid and with a fantastic team that has had many iconic riders. I hope to quickly get to grips with the GP24 – we will have to take it step by step, but I can’t wait for the first test of the new season in Valencia. I would like to thank Nadia and Gigi for their trust, which will be reciprocated.”
