goodbye to Oliveira and Chantra, hello to Moreira and Toprak

22 riders will make up the 2026 MotoGP grid divided into a total of 11 teams. All the agreements have already been closed and made official and, in this way, we know who is staying and who is leaving. The last to arrive is Diogo Moreira, who moves up from Moto2 and thus joins Toprak Razgatlioglu who will disembark from the World Superbike probably as a three-time champion.

In fact, Moreira himself, who will ride a LCR Honda as Zarco’s partner, could also rise as champion because he is fighting with Manu González for the title and the distance between them after the Spaniard’s disqualification in Indonesia is minimal.

But the arrival of Razgatlioglu and Moreira means the departure of two riders who will not be on the MotoGP 2026 grid. These are Miguel Oliveira and Somkiat Chantra, both heading to WSBK and both penalized by injuries this season, which in the case of the Portuguese has given rise to Yamaha executing a clause to cancel the contract.

And continuity is the key to this season, since there were really very few openings available at the beginning and those that were available at some point were closing quickly. In fact, one of the situations that delayed the movement of some riders was the situation that Martín and Aprilia maintained for a time despite the fact that both had a contract.

In this way, between renewals such as that of Zarco, Miller, Marini or Morbidelli, the reality is that the majority of drivers started this contract in 2025 and it extends to 2026, so the possibility of big movements will arrive next season and surely the movements will begin to occur sooner rather than later.

So these are the 22 drivers who will compete as permanent drivers next season, the last of the current regulations and also the last for Michelin as the sole tire supplier.

2026 will be the last year of the current regulations
