Dunlop Motorcycle Europe has reinforced its presence in the scooter segment with the introduction of the Scoot Smart 2a tire that has better performance than its predecessor, in addition to offering a wide range of use and efficiency. Combining advanced motorcycle tire technologies with scooter-specific development, it adapts from lightweight urban scooters to retro models and high-performance maxi scooters.
Dunlop ScootSmart 2 in detail
The Dunlop ScootSmart 2 builds on the success of the original ScootSmart, which since its launch in 2012 has earned a strong reputation among scooter users for its reliable all-weather performance and durability. The new generation has been developed specifically to respond to the changing demands of today’s drivers.
It is also aimed at those who use the scooter as a means of daily mobility, both on urban journeys and on longer journeys. ScootSmart 2 delivers measurable improvements in all key performance areas, including wet grip, braking and handlingwhile maintaining the durability and versatility characteristic of the original model.
The model incorporates a new compound with high silica content, which improves grip in a wide range of temperatures and road conditions, optimizing traction in both dry and wet conditions, without compromising mileage. This is complemented by a new tread design.
The front tire features a serrated central groove that breaks up the water film and reduces braking distance, while the orientation of the main grooves improves water evacuation at medium speeds. Secondary grooves and shoulder elements increase grip when maneuvering on slippery surfaces.
On the rear rubber, a continuous central zone improves wear resistance and dry traction, while the arrangement of the grooves is optimized to maintain wet grip. Together, these features ensure consistent performance in the various conditions that scooter users face throughout the year.
In fact, internal Dunlop tests show a 10% reduction in wet braking distance compared to its predecessorevidencing a clear improvement in safety and control for daily use. In the words of Roberto FinettiMarketing Director of Dunlop Motorcycle Europe:
