Yamaha Cygnus X 2026 in detail

With more than four decades on the market, the Cygnus has become an essential model within Yamaha’s offering in multiple markets. This 2026 model presents a new body with more compact and stylized lines. The projector-type headlight, equipped with LED lighting, offers a more dynamic style.

In the mechanical section, its 124 cm³ water-cooled Blue Core engine stands out, with optimized CVT and TCS transmission. Work has also been done on the redesign of the muffler, which now emits a more refined sound throughout the rev range. The brand declares 12 HP at 8,000 rpm, and 10.8 Nm of maximum torque at 6,000 rpm.

For the cycle part Yamaha has worked on the “vertical rigidity” of the Cygnus “It has been improved by approximately 19% compared to the “Cygnus Gryphus” model, and the thickness of the right side tube has been increased from 2.0 mm to 2.3 mm”according to the brand itself. With these changes, a smooth ride has been achieved. Other improvements in this section have focused on the general security of the complex.

For example, the new model includes a larger diameter front disc, going from 245 mm to the current 267 mm. At the back this element has also grown, now being 230 mm. These changes, combined with the optimized lever ratio of the brake lever, allow for even more precise control. This is also helped by the reduction in the width of the front tire.

Regarding this, Yamaha clarifies: “The front tire size has been changed from 120/70-12 on the Cygnus Gryphus model to 110/70-12, and the rim width has been reduced from 2.75 inches to 2.5 inches.” At the suspension level, the length of the inner tube of the front fork has been extended by 5 mm. Likewise, the stiffness of the rear springs has been reduced by approximately 12% compared to the previous model.

Additionally, it features a four-position preload adjustment, allowing for custom settings based on driving conditions and personal preferences. All this without forgetting such important aspects as ergonomics. In this field Yamaha has chosen to expand the space for the feet and knees, improving the freedom of the riding position. In addition, the shape of the front of the seat has also been optimized to achieve a natural posture.
