If someone had imagined Jorge Martín’s season defending the MotoGP title, it is almost certain that no one had given on the key seeing what has finally happened. First an injury in the tests, then another when he recovered from the first and when he was able to play his first GP with Aprilia, the accident so serious that he has had in the dry dock so far.
In case all this was not enough, suddenly, during the France GP everything jumped through the air when it was announced that, hosting an alleged clause of the contract, Martín was not going to continue in 2026 with April. That clause, which we speak as supposed because it has not been made public and are not known to the letter, but we know the version of Albert Valera, allowed not to execute the second year of the contract.
That was when he began to rise the level tension until we reached the GP of the Netherlands, in Assen, when Valera told his version and made it clear that Jorge was, under his point of view, a free pilot to negotiate with equipment for 2026. Meanwhile, Aprilia for his part, he insisted on the fact that the contract was binding, they were not willing to yield and if it had to be settled in the courts.
Meanwhile, Carmelo Ezpeleta was bluntly with his words, giving priority to a contract and to the fact that if there was no agreement between the parties or a judicial resolution Dorna would not accept Martin’s registration with another team. That blunt statement of the championship organizer seems to have made the waters return to their channel and that the Martin-Aprilia soap operate comes to an end.
The Martín-Aprilia battle must now be on track, as allies and for being fast
Precisely following this situation and before Speedweek’s colleagues, Valera made clear what had happened and the process that they would have to carry out until they are disconnected from Aprilia, in addition to the reasons that lead them now not to do it: “Until the Milan Court makes a decision, it will spend too much.
Thus, now everything goes on to redirect the situation and that will begin during the GP of the Czech Republic with Martín returning to the competition after the tests he carried out in Misano. The sensations were positive, the RS-GP aprilia has been competitive in the hands of Marco Bezzecchi regardless of the track and that is another factor that, without a doubt, will also have influenced:
“The motorcycle has improved a lot, now it offers more grip and transmits more confidence than when Jorge piloted her for the last time. He told me that the note much less nervous.”
In any case, now you have to give Jorge time to recover his best version, adapt to the motorcycle and can again demonstrate the speed that took him to the title of 2024.
