Since its launch in 2013 under the name CB500F, Honda’s midsize naked has been a benchmark in balance, manageability and reliability within the A2 segment. In 2024, the Japanese firm decided to reinforce its character and lineage by adopting the Hornet name, incorporating a more aggressive aesthetic and an equipment level typical of higher displacements. For this year, the 2026 CB500 Hornet evolves again with a key update: the arrival of the Honda E-Clutch system, which redefines the driving experience with a more precise, faster and accessible approach.
This addition not only adds a new level of refinement to the package, but also consolidates the Hornet as one of the most technologically advanced nakeds in its category. With the electronic clutch option, a top-notch chassis and an excellent performance engine, Honda reinforces its commitment to offering motorcycles that are easy to enjoy, with the perfect balance between performance, efficiency and fun.
Honda CB500 Hornet 2026 engine
The Honda CB500 Hornet 2026 maintains the well-known 471 cc parallel twin, an eight-valve block, liquid cooling and double camshaft that delivers the maximum power allowed for the A2 license: 35 kW at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This engine is widely recognized for its balance between smoothness, elasticity and character, with an immediate response to the throttle and linear behavior throughout the rev range.
The PGM-FI electronic injection system has been optimized for 2026 with new settings that improve low-end acceleration and refine power delivery, offering a fuller sensation of thrust from the first laps. The intake and exhaust have been designed to promote direct air flow, contributing to both efficiency and the characteristic sound of the model, with a sharp and sporty tone in the upper area of the tachometer.
The engine acts as a load-bearing element within the chassis, which improves structural rigidity and reduces vibrations. It incorporates an assisted and slipper clutch, facilitating downshifts and preventing the rear wheel from locking during heavy braking. Its declared average consumption is around 3.5 l/100 km, which, combined with a 17.1 liter tank, allows it to exceed 480 km of theoretical autonomy, an outstanding figure for a medium-displacement naked.
Chassis, suspensions and brakes of the Honda CB500 Hornet 2026
The 35mm diameter steel diamond frame combines lightness and strength, with a carefully tuned balance of rigidity to transmit excellent feedback to the driver. The weight distribution is 50/50 between both axles, contributing to a feeling of neutrality and control both in urban driving and on curved sections.
In the suspension section, the CB500 Hornet is equipped with a 41 mm Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork-Big Piston) inverted front fork, the same technology used in larger displacement models. This system separates the damping and spring functions between both bars, achieving a more precise response and more progressive absorption. At the rear, a single-tube Showa shock absorber with a large diameter piston and five-position preload adjustment completes the set, guaranteeing balanced and stable behavior.
Braking is provided by a double 296 mm front disc with four-piston Nissin radial calipers, accompanied by a 240 mm rear disc and single-piston caliper. This system offers outstanding power and dosage, with a sporty feel and total control under any circumstance. The five-spoke “Y” light alloy wheels are fitted with tires measuring 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 160/60-ZR17 at the rear, contributing to excellent agility. The total curb weight remains at 188 kg, ensuring a very balanced power/weight ratio.
Technology and equipment of the Honda CB500 Hornet 2026
The most significant advance of the 2026 CB500 Hornet is the introduction of the Honda E-Clutch system, an innovation that allows you to change gears without operating the clutch lever. Using a set of electric motors integrated into the right engine cover, the electronics manage the opening and closing of the clutch based on parameters such as speed, engine speed, accelerator angle or the pressure exerted on the shift pedal. The result is faster and more precise operation than a conventional quickshifter, with unprecedented smoothness both when shifting up and down.
The system does not eliminate manual control: the rider can use the clutch lever at any time, and the E-Clutch automatically reactivates after a few seconds. In addition, it offers three levels of pedal hardness – Soft, Medium and Hard – independently adjustable for up and down gears, adapting to the preferences of each driver. This technology, unprecedented until now in the A2 segment, provides comfort in daily use and greater control in sports driving.
At the instrumentation level, the CB500 Hornet 2026 equips a 5-inch color TFT screen with optical bonding technology, which improves visibility even under direct light. Through the Honda RoadSync system, compatible with Android and iOS, it allows you to manage turn-by-turn navigation, calls and music via Bluetooth connection and an intuitive backlit control on the handlebar.
The lighting is completely LED, with a newly designed headlight that offers a wider and deeper beam, accompanied by turn signals with ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) system, which activate an emergency signal in case of sudden braking. Among the assistance systems, the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) also stands out, which manages rear traction by adjusting the injection and can be disconnected if more direct driving is desired.
Colors and options of the 2026 Honda CB500 Hornet
The 2026 CB500 Hornet will be available in three all-new color combinations:

2026 Honda CB500 Hornet Price and Availability
Honda has not yet officially announced the final price of the 2026 CB500 Hornet, although it is expected to be slightly above the previous version due to the incorporation of the E-Clutch system and the update of the electronic equipment.
Arrival in European dealerships is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, with immediate availability of all three colors and accessory packages. With this evolution, the Hornet reaffirms its role as one of the most complete, balanced and technologically advanced naked models within the A2 market.
