Honda recovers the spirit of Tokyo in the 80s with this Super Cub limited to 500 units

Honda Thailand announced this special series a few days ago Super Cub Tokyo 80s Edition. A limited edition to only 500 copies in which those responsible for the Japanese brand in the Asian country have been inspired by the Tokyo style of the 1980s, highlighting even more, if possible, that classic design that characterizes the iconic Japanese scooter.

The Super Cub turned into a source of inspiration

For a few years now, the Honda Super Cub has become the ideal platform to recreate different limited series around its design and history. Not only do we find special editions of the scooter itself; The brand, in collaboration with other leading companies in different sectors, has also participated in the launch of such special and striking products as, for example, the Seiko 5 Super Cub.

Another interesting initiative with the famous Super Cub as its main reference was the one carried out by the Japanese Postal Service to celebrate two very special birthdays: 150 years of its own creation and the 50th anniversary of the Super Cub in its MD90 version. A range of commemorative products was then launched in the form of a mug, apron and a model of the iconic scooter.

Super Cub Tokyo 80s Edition: unique timeless style

Following this trend, Honda Thailand does the same with its new Super Cub Tokyo 80s Edition. Providing it with a “yellow and white color scheme, wire wheels, a chrome front luggage rack and a brown-tinted windshield.”as detailed by our colleagues from Top Gear Philippines, also has a retro-inspired graphics kit on the side panels and leg protector.

Without a doubt a statement of intent by the Thai subsidiary of Honda with this special and limited edition of the Super Cub Tokyo 80s Edition. Not satisfied with this, they have also developed a specific equipment package for this initiative that includes a jacket and helmet decorated in the same style line as the scooter itself. Two ideal accessories with which to put the icing on this succulent technical and visual cake.

Super Cub Tokyo 80s Edition: the technical section

For the creation of this special series, Honda uses the standard version of the model that is sold in those parts. This comes equipped with a 4-stroke, OHC, air-cooled, single-cylinder block and fed by an electronically controlled fuel injection system (PGM-FI). The brand declares a final power of about 8 HP at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.8 Nm at 5,500 revolutions.
