The 2025 AMA Supercross season is the most anticipated by Spanish fans for a long time, and with good reason. After last season’s trial, Jorge Prado has signed for Kawasaki to race full-time, and he has already had a first test with real fire from which we can say that he came away with a good feeling.
The first contact already placed Prado in a good position, occupying 17th place out of the 47 candidates and with times close to some of the reference drivers such as Ken Roczen or Dylan Ferrandis. But, as always, Prado went even further in the qualifier, already reaching eleventh position that placed him in Heat2.
In the qualifying race, with seven laps, Prado only lost to Chase Sexton, but left behind AMA Supercross roosters such as Justin Barcia, Hunter Lawrence or Eli Toma, to name a few.
So it can be said that the feelings were quite good heading into the grand final, a final in which he was able to score the holeshot by reaching the white line first after the start. A spectacle and brand of a Prado that did not go out to speculate, but rather went with all the potential despite the fact that, logically, he is still a rider with less experience in supercross, and has to adapt his technique .
Then he took the lead for a few moments before losing some position, although always among the best. But a fall deprived him of better results. Of course, he recovered, set a good pace and although, as we say, he still lacks technique in a discipline to which he has just landed, it seems clear that it is only a matter of time before he continues giving us joy.
Now the AMA Supercross and Jorge Prado head to San Diego
As for the rest of the drivers, Chase Sextos was the one who took the lead after keeping Ken Roczen at bay. Prado’s teammate Jason Anderson finished second ahead of the Yamaha duo of Webb and Tomac. Barcia, Cooper, Hill, Plessinger and Stewart captured a top 10 in which Prado will be in consistently sooner rather than later.
The good thing about AMA Supercross is that the dates are correlative, so both Jorge Prado and the rest of the riders are already preparing to visit San Diego, also in California, for the second round of the season.
