KTM 450 SMR 2025: Supermoto at its best

KTM has just unveiled its new KTM 450 SMR 2025one of the clear benchmarks in the Supermoto category, if not the one. Of course, this machine has been created for those looking for a combination of adrenaline and precision on the track.

Based on the new KTM 450 SX-Fthe last one KTM 450 SMR raises the bar even further on the SM, incorporating key improvements to the chassis, fork and ergonomics.

The 450cc SOHC engine and 63 HP is one of the highlights, but it comes with numerous updates. The most significant innovation is in the chassis, with a noticeable reduction in material and modifications to the thickness of the tubes near the steering column, along with improvements to the engine mounts and rear shock absorber.

These modifications have not only reduced the weight by 300 grams, but also improved the flex characteristics of the assembly and optimised cornering behaviour, without compromising overall stability. In this regard, the redesign of the footpegs on the 2025 model allows for a greater angle of inclination and reduces the risk of snagging on the edges of the track.

Another novelty is the incorporation for the first time of an adjustable fork WP XACT 48 mm closed-cartridge piston. This system introduces a new mid-valve piston concept that optimizes oil flow, preventing foam formation and maintaining damping capacity. In addition, a hydraulic stop at the end of the stroke ensures additional reserves in situations such as large jumps or difficult landings.

At the rear, the shock absorber WP XACT is complemented by an improved linkage system, which includes renewed seals and a smaller diameter main screw. This configuration, developed directly by the team of Factory Racing of KTMhas been tested on both dirt and asphalt.

In terms of ergonomics, the KTM 450 SMR 2025 The tank area features new deflectors made of two-component plastic on the upper and lower sides. They not only give it a distinctive look, but also improve engine cooling by channelling the air more efficiently.

The intake design has also been improved, with a one-piece air duct and snorkel that prevents deformation thanks to its robust construction. Meanwhile, a new fuel tank retaining roller improves its fit and protects the chassis from friction wear.

As expected, on the outside, the bodywork is presented in a striking orange colour, with red and black graphics applied using in-mold technology, complemented by a more durable black seat cover, reflecting the READY TO RACE spirit of the KTM 450 SMR 2025.

As in previous generations, the latest KTM 450 SMR 2025 It comes equipped with tires Metzeler Racetec SM K1 Supermoto racing bike, mounted on lightweight wheels Alpine 16.5” at the front and 17” at the rear.
