KTM updates its Freeride E for 2027

In recent years, KTM, with its Freeride Ehas offered riders the possibility of riding a low-emission, quiet and easy-to-maintain off-road motorcycle that also stands out for its efficient functionality along with good performance on any surface.

By 2027, the orange firm announces an increase in its performance, as well as a reduction in its final weight, contributing to the improvement of the experience once we put ourselves at the controls.

KTM Freeride E 2027 in detail

In this 2027 version, KTM has increased the final power to 19.2 kW with a maximum torque of 37Nm and a top speed of 95km/h. Power can be managed through three driving modes and three energy recovery settings that help extend the range and potential of the Freeride E 2027. The electronic pack includes a “rollover” sensor for greater safety and adjustable traction control, displayed on the instrumentation through a series of easy-to-read LEDs.

The propeller is combined with a 29 kg MX50 lithium-ion battery, easily interchangeable, allowing the use of a second battery during the charging process or to increase autonomy. Likewise, it has an IP67 rating, so it is completely waterproof and dustproof. It can be removed from the motorcycle easily and in less than 10 minutes.

KTM Freeride E 2027: Lighter and more powerful and with greater capacity

Its capacity is 5.5 kWha 1.5 kWh improvement over the previous model and 20% more driving time or distance. The nominal voltage is around 50V and the battery can withstand more than 1,000 charge cycles before its health status drops to 80%. Typical enduro riding time is estimated between 2 and 3 hours. Charging time with the included 660W charger is less than 8 hours from a standard household outlet. Charging from 20% to 80% takes less than 6 hours.

Once underway, there are three ready-to-use riding modes that you can quickly change using the top button on the convenient four-button switch cube on the handlebar. Each mode is designed to adapt to different riding situations, and as you move from Mode 1 to Mode 3, the bike delivers more torque and more power, up to the maximum. To aid maximum motor efficiency and battery life, three recovery settings can be activated: Off, Medium and High.

These can be selected for a specific mode to ensure flexibility with the power package and so that drivers can continue driving for as long as possible. Both the riding modes and the traction control, which can be used independently of the riding modes, can be easily activated or deactivated via the ergonomic four-button switch hub on the left handlebar.

At the chassis level, the Freeride E 2027 uses a chrome-molybdenum steel chassis, along with a subframe made of aluminum and fiberglass-reinforced nylon. It also enjoys elaborate state-of-the-art WP XACT suspensions, Braktec brakes and Michelin Enduro Medium tires. For this new evolution, the seat height has increased to 910 mm, while the maximum weight has been reduced to 112 kg, including the rear-view mirrors, turn signals and other parts approved for road use.
