Aprilia continues to give us sporty motorcycles loaded with symbolism like its new RSV4 X ex3mathe most sophisticated RSV4 ever produced. A model that becomes the fourth chapter of a unique project in the world, which began in 2019 with the RSV4 X, followed by the Tuono X. Then came the Aprilia RSV4 X Limited Edition and then the Aprilia RSV4 XTrenta, with 230 hp of power and 166 kilograms of weight.
The novelty RSV4 X ex3ma represents the ultimate expression of technology and performance available to the public. In the words of Roman AlbesianTechnical Director of Aprilia Racing: “This bike is the most extreme evolution of the programme we started with the aim of transferring the most advanced technology to our customers, directly from our racing department. The transfer of technology from racing to users is very often mentioned, but nowhere is it more concrete than at Aprilia Racing.”
And continues: “Our engineers have created something that is much more than an evolution of the extraordinary RSV4 project. This is clearly evident in the aerodynamics, with specifications worthy of a real MotoGP bike. The ex3ma is the first bike on the market equipped with a complete ground effect package that triples the lateral load compared to the previous X: the stepped fairing and cornering spoilers are innovations that Aprilia was the first to bring to MotoGP.”
“The front wing is a genuine MotoGP wing, measuring 550 mm wide and generating five times the downforce of the previous version, the X Trenta, which already had more than the road version, allowing for great acceleration. Even “under the skin” there are very important developments, starting with the legendary APX racing control unit which has evolved substantially to offer users performance and ease of use.”
Concludes: “Many components, visible or not, are new or have been optimized to ensure a very low weight. Without a doubt, it is the bike on the market that more than any other can allow the customer to experience the riding sensations of a modern MotoGP.”
Without a doubt, this Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma It marks a direct link with MotoGP, as it is the first and only motorcycle available for sale to the public equipped with ground-effect aerodynamics. This highly sophisticated technology, entirely developed and patented by Aprilia Racing, was previously exclusive to the RS-GP 24who competes in MotoGP.
Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma 2025: A true racing bike without compromise
In the new RSV4 X ex3ma The particular shape of the side fairing is certainly a highlight, as it makes use of the air pressure between the ground and the fairing when the bike is leaning in the corners to increase grip. The entire aerodynamic package, derived from MotoGP, includes the newly designed front spoiler, the lower spoiler (commonly called the “spoon”) placed under the swingarm and the curved spoilers located at the bottom of the front mudguard.
The entire fairing is made from PAN Compositi carbon using the same processes used for MotoGP. Compared to the already advanced X Trenta, it increases vertical air pressure in a straight line fivefold, improving stability and precision while reducing wheelies. In corners, it triples the downforce, significantly improving grip.
The special Perla Nera livery draws inspiration from Aprilia’s heritage and the mythology of motorcycle racing. The glossy black finish and graphics of the RSV4 X ex3ma are a clear tribute to one of the most iconic bikes in the history of the sport, the RS 250, with which Max Biaggi won three consecutive world championships from 1994 to 1996 in the 250cc class. It is no coincidence that Aprilia Racing chose this livery for the recent race at Silverstone. To celebrate 75 years of MotoGP, each manufacturer raced with its most iconic colours.
Max Biaggi himself, who was the protagonist of the on-track development and final fine-tuning of the RSV4 X ex3ma, comments: “Taking part in its development has been like going back to pre-season testing, when the technical foundations for an entire season are laid. The commitment on the track was also total, to prepare a bike that gives those lucky enough to ride it the same sensations as a racing prototype.”
And continues: “In many ways, this bike really is, because it is the first time that such a complete set-up has been developed for a passionate customer, including the numerous parameters introduced by MotoGP aerodynamics. I am really satisfied with the work done, the bike transmits emotion just by looking at it with the Perla Nera livery that brings to life a glorious story.”
Concludes: “On the track it was an explosion of emotions, you can feel the downforce on the ground thanks to its fairing in the fast corners, a wonderful sensation. There will be 30 unique examples, rigorously hand-made by Aprilia Racing, which makes this bike even more exclusive.”
The Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma in figures
The technical sheet of RSV4 X ex3ma It stars the legendary 65° V-four enginewith a displacement of 1.099 ccprepared by Aprilia Racing engineers and which now claims a maximum power of 230 hp at 13,500 rpm (with a maximum speed at 13,900 rpm) and a maximum torque of 131 Nm at 11,000 rpm. These performances are achieved thanks to a specific V4 tuning that also includes a higher compression ratio, in addition to the adoption of the Sprint Filter high-permeability air filter and the exhaust system created by SC Project, characterized by titanium collectors and double exhaust pipe.
The evolutionary step of the Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma goes beyond aerodynamic and engine innovations: the electronic systems also raise the levels of technology and performance. The control unit that manages all the active electronic controls is the famous Aprilia Racing APX, an exclusive component, the latest evolution of the one that was the protagonist in the WSBK World Championship won by Biaggi and the RSV4. It features operating strategies identical to those implemented for the RSV4 used in racing and has an integrated data acquisition system thanks to a series of specific sensors, essential for precise control of the vehicle dynamics.
In particular, the APX system allows the management of anti-wheelie and power calibration, traction control and engine braking for each individual gear. All parameters can be managed by the rider both on the move, thanks to the dedicated button panel, and during the preparation/configuration phase of the bike using the interface software that can be edited on the supplied laptop. The APX system is also completed by an integrated GPS system. The Yashi laptop is supplied to the customer with the bike, for correct management of the control unit software.
The twin-beam aluminium chassis is enhanced by Ohlins mechanical suspension with a specific set-up, including a pressurised fork, while the Brembo braking system features a 19×16 radial pump at the front. This is combined with GP4 MS billet calipers with Z04 racing pads and 330 mm T Drive brake discs, while the rear brake disc is supported by a nickel-plated surface caliper.
The Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma features carbon fibre wheels, which reduce weight and unsprung mass, improving handling, acceleration and braking performance. These wheels are fitted with the same slick tyres used by Pirelli in the Superbike World Championship (SC1 front with 125/70 size and SCX rear with 200/65 size).
Likewise, the numerous details reflect the care that Aprilia Racing has devoted to this model:
- Both fenders are carbon
- Jetprime racing right button panel
- adjustable footrests
- Clutch lever, steering plate (with unit serial number), gas cap and engine crankcase and front brake lever guards are made of aluminum
- Taleo Tecnoracing oversized water and oil radiators
- Final drive features titanium crown and lightened pinion manufactured by PBR
- RK racing chain
