Shown for the first time during the Morbidelli Days 2025 celebration in China, the new Timeless 1200 It lands in the “Maxi-Retro” category with very clear ideas. Mainly, to stand up to Triumph’s incombustible Bonnevilles. But also in the short and medium term it will do the same with Ducati’s Scrambler range, as the brand prepares new variants of the model with which to cover the largest possible market share.
In any case, we are facing the facelift of an old well-known in Europe, the Brixton Cromwell 1200X, a model that in China has also been marketed as Gaokin GK1200 and now it will do the same under this “timeless” format. The name truly fits the bill, since the platform on which this Timeless 1200 is built seems unchanged from its predecessors.
Morbidelli Timeless 1200: what we know
In order to place this Timeless 1200 within the two-wheeled sector, we must put into context the interconnection of Morbidelli with the thick Chinese business network from which it derives. The Cycle World colleagues explain it in the best possible way when they say that “Gaokin, manufacturer of this motorcycle, is closely linked to Keeway, which is part of the Qianjiang empire, owner of the Morbidelli brand.”
That said and focusing on what this Timeless 1200 will offer us, we highlight its 1,222 cc parallel twin engine, water-cooled and powered by a Magneti Marelli electronic injection system, capable of offering us up to 82 HP at 6,550 rpm and 108.5 Nm of maximum torque at 3,100 rpm. It also has a Dell ‘Orto electronic throttle, two driving modes (Eco and Sport) and an FCC slipper clutch.
If we take a look at its cycle part we can see that most of the elements previously seen in the Cromwell are replicated. For example, in the braking section, it has two 310 mm perforated discs in the front and one 260 mm disc in the rear, assisted by an ABS system signed by Bosch. For the suspension, it uses KYB with a conventional 41 mm fork at the front and a pair of lateral shock absorbers at the rear.
The Timeless 1200 rests on two Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR mixed tires measuring 110/80R-18 and 170/60R-17, front and rear respectively. These wrap a pair of radial-type Zhongnan Aluminum wheels. This same brand also supplies other reference brands such as Harley-Davidson and Triumph. With a declared weight of 235 kilogramswe must also add to the final figure the 16 liters of gasoline that the fuel tank of the Timeless 1200 can hold.
With an official price in China of 49,800 yuanjust over 6,200 euros in exchange, it is inevitable to think that, if marketed in Europe, the new neo retro model from Morbidelli would be a very attractive option for fans of frames of this type. In any case, its arrival at the brand’s dealerships on our continent is not expected until at least next season.
Along with it, it is very likely that a scrambler-type variant will also land ready to compete with the reference models in the sector. Two facts that have yet to be confirmed by Morbidelli, but that are already sounding strongly within the two-wheeled sector with an eye on next year 2027.
