Norton Interpol 2 from 1984

The Norton Interpol is probably one of the least known frames among followers of the British brand. Among other things, because the two times that the brand used this commercial name, it was intended for the construction of a model for the country’s security forces. Our today’s protagonist belongs to the second generation, produced between 1984 and 1989 and, unlike the first batch from the 70s, it is equipped with a 588 Wankel engine with a double air-cooled rotor.

Norton Interpol 2 in detail

There is not much information referring to Interpol 2, beyond the fact that the model in question was only available to civilian police forces, military police forces (in particular, the Royal Air Force Police) and the RAC. (Royal Automobile Club). We also know that the brand used parts from Yamaha and Moto Guzzi in its development, trying to reduce costs and lighten the manufacturing process.

On the other hand, the colleagues at Bike Urious, who are the ones who have echoed this copy for sale, explain that “Brian Crighton used the engines found at Interpol as the basis for the famous Norton racing motorcycles, and managed to increase the power from 85 to 120 hp for racing applications.” Norton originally declared 85 HP at 9,000 rpm and 75 Nm of maximum torque at 7,000 revolutions.
