It is not on the Isle of Man, it does not have more than 100 editions under its belt and, yet, Oliver’s Mount It is one of the road racing circuits with the most character of the road racing. A much shorter track than usual for these tracks, with only 3.91 kilometers and also narrow, with level changes and really fast considering the conditions.
Oliver’s Mount converted into a place of worship
That is why Oliver’s Mount, which is located on the hill from which it inherits the name and which is located in Scarboroughin the English county of North Yorkshire, is so special for everyone. Even more so when the list of road racing legends who have passed through there is almost endless and in which we find names from different generations such as those of Geoff Duke, John Surtees or Mike Hailwood.
Also to Phil Read or Giacomo Agostini to Barry Sheene, Joey Dunlop, Carl Fogarty, John McGuinnessGuy Martin or Dean Harrison. Although despite the longevity of Oliver’s Mount, it began to gain popularity in 1950 when the first edition of the Gold Cup was held, which became a fixed event on the calendar and this year’s edition coincides with the 80th anniversary of the track.
Of course, the road has not always been easy and, for example, in 2018 no races were held due to security problems. Although then the activity recovered and the races returned to the track in the same way as they will do this weekend.

The 2026 edition of the Gold Cup will have big names this year. From Friday the 4th to Sunday the 6th Some of the drivers of the moment will be powering down the hill with many eyes on Storm Stacey. After making his North West 200 debut with two wins in his first appearance outside of BSB, everyone is waiting to see what he will be able to do.
Of course, he will have to face Dean Harrison who is one of the great track specialists or Peter Hickman, another of the great road racing specialists. The most successful TT driver will be missed, as he does not appear on the entry list: Michael Dunlop. Who will be there, but not competing, is John McGuinness, who along with Glenn Irwin, Steve Parrish and Mick Grant will be part of the parades and meetings with drivers.
As if all this motorsport festival were not enough, there will be musical performances on Friday and Saturday and even a charity auction in favor of Garry Broughton, seriously injured during the 2025 Manx Grand Prix. A spectacular way to celebrate the first 80 years of history of a modest but spectacular track. Here’s to the next eight decades!
