Renault has presented an electric motorcycle for the car license, but with a ridiculously expensive price

We are entering the motorcycle show season and what we did not expect is for Renault to be in the news. During this week, from October 14 to 20, the Motor Show is being held in Paris, and although it is focused on cars, Renault has surprised by presenting an electric motorcycle.

Actually the presentation by Renault of the motorcycle, which they have named the Heritage Spirit Scrambler, and which has been designed in collaboration with the French company Ateliers HeritageBike, is part of the French marl strategy. According to reports, it is part of its positioning within electric mobility and its e-mobility range.

Aesthetically, the motorcycle presented by Renault has a scrambler, retro and a bit of a “monster bike” character due to the large knobby wheels that it mounts and that, without a doubt, will determine the behavior of the motorcycle.

But as far as the technical part is concerned, the motorcycle that Renault has presented would be included in the 125 category and could be driven with the A1 and motorcycle license. We are talking about a 7 kW motor (about 10 HP) that is capable of taking the motorcycle up to the 100 kilometers per hour barrier. The engine torque would be a not inconsiderable 280 Nm.

The battery is 4.6 kWh which, according to the declared figures, will allow the motorcycle to have a range of about 110 kilometers per charge. This would allow you to move around the city without worries, although it has been presented as a motorcycle with which you can go out into the countryside, something that would certainly not be usual for its users because it is not a light motorcycle.

The Renault motorcycle is not special in the technical part, but it has a price as if it were

In fact, the declared weight of the Heritage Spirit Scrambler is 137 kg, a figure that we see in other models of its characteristics and that some could consider as light. The distance between the axles is also known, which is 1,300 millimeters, as well as the distance from the seat to the ground, which is 800 millimeters.

The wire-spoke wheels are made from Exel, while braking is handled by Brembo with a radial caliper. What is not known is if these will have ABS or if we are dealing with a motorcycle with a CBS (combined braking) system. With all this we are talking about a handmade motorcycle that will not be cheap at all: 24,950 euros.

It is, therefore, a machine that follows the unjustifiable rise in prices that the world of automobiles has begun and where the lack of initiatives to achieve market share has led to an unaffordable increase for consumers.

There are those who will justify that price as the motorcycle is handcrafted and is an edition with few units, but seeing how other initiatives of this style have already failed, it is easy to know what can await the Renault motorcycle.
