That luck has not been on Álex Rins’ side during his time in MotoGP is more than evident. After managing to be competitive with Suzuki, the brand with which he debuted and with which he achieved five victories and finished third in the 2020 championship, he was left without a place for 2022 when everything was closed, and Suzuki decided to abandon the championship.
So, like Joan Mir, he had no choice but to go for a Honda that at that time was not attractive at all. Even so, he adapted relatively well to the bike, and achieved a memorable victory in Austin that demonstrated his worth. But a crash shortly after, at the Italian GP, complicated everything extremely for the Catalan.
Without being able to compete in more than a total of seven GPs in 2023, he moved to Yamaha in 2024. A bike I had hopes for, but which has proven to be the least competitive of the season since then. Three seasons in which Rins has been very far from achieving results, and in which he has only been able to fight to not be last.
Looking ahead to 2027 and with the history behind him, Rins has no other options but to go to WSBK if he wants to continue competing at the highest level. And by all accounts that is what he is doing. In fact, Álex has never hidden his intention to move to Superbike if there was no place in MotoGP, and it seems that he is betting on it.
Go Eleven could prepare a second motorcycle for Rins
According to this information, Rins is looking for a Ducati Panigale V4, and with the doors of the official team closed, the most plausible option could be with the Go Eleven. The team, in which Lorenzo Baldassarri currently competes and which has had good performances this season, is in full negotiations with the Italian to renew, but for now it has not been confirmed.
It is assumed that Lorenzo will continue, but that does not mean that Rins cannot arrive and, as GPOne colleagues comment, the option of a second bike is totally feasible at this time. This information confirms that PATA, the team’s main sponsor, could be working to increase the budget and support the team more, which would make the arrival of the Spaniard possible.
In any case, it is not a decision that can be made lightly, since it is estimated that the cost would be around 300,000 euros to add the extra motorcycle. Even so, and although we may still have to wait, it seems that the options of seeing Rins in the WSBK are real.
