The TT of 2025 leaves Michael Dunlop at the top of the “Road Races”, but also leaves a bittersweet flavor by not having been able to dispute the senior TT. In an edition in which, as usual, there had been delays due to the conditions of the layout finally had to suspend the main course.
And it will not be because it was not attempted, because at 18:30 local time several veteran pilots among which were James Hillier and John McGuinness, went for a turn of recognition to see if it was possible to carry out the career of the Senior TT. And on his return, they gathered with a career direction and with Gary Thompson, the “Clerk of the Course”, the head of the layout.
After this meeting the public announcement came through megafonía: Senior TT was canceled due to the conditions of the layout. And it is that on the last night the registered rains were intense and then continued, with less force, in the morning in addition to a strong wind that whipped in the mountain area. For all this it was decided to cancel the race.
The senior TT of 2025 will not be played
This nuance is important and the senior TT was canceled, it will not be disputed in this edition. The reasons were diverse and on the one hand, there was the whole issue of permits that prevented it from delaying one more day than expected. The organization did not have these permits and although they had been achieved, to be able to count minimal with the 600 commissioners that are necessary was not possible either.
For that reason and with security as the main motivation, there was no choice but to make a common decision. And it is not necessary to forget that although all TT races have a very high value, the Senior TT is the most important of those that can be won on the island.

At least, the important thing in this case is that the security prevails above the rest, something that in a Road Race is fundamental. And also, that in this 2025 edition in addition to the great results and races we have lived, this year is the second consecutive in which we do not have to regret any death, and serious accidents have been few.
