Since Shineray took over the Italian brand SWN Motorcycles, they have gradually created a range of models including the Stormbreaker V1200, an attractive retro-inspired custom with clear Harley-Davidson overtones. And it seems that it will not be the only one representing the brand in this segment, as we have learned from our colleagues at Cycle World.
If you take a look at the aforementioned Stormbreaker V1200, it will remind you, at first glance, of the well-known Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200. Equipped with an air-cooled, fuel-injected V-twin engine, it offers up to 60 HP of power at 5,750 rpm and 90 Nm of maximum torque at 3,250 rpmdeclaring a maximum speed of 165 km/h.
We told you about this engine in the summer of 2022 when we had the main details surrounding its development. There is no doubt about the similarity it has with Harley’s discontinued V-Twins, although Shineray declares different specifications to the American engine. In any case, its architecture and even exterior aesthetics share many elements with the engine of the previous generation of Sportster.
SWN is already preparing a 2nd custom model on this platform
The brand has already registered its new custom bike in China and, although we do not yet know its commercial name, we can make the first analysis of what SWN intends with its future bike. In any case, as with the Stormbreaker V1200, we are looking at a model that faithfully follows the design patterns of the Harley Sportster.
Specifically, those that are closely linked to the aesthetics of the Sportster XL1200V Seventy-Two. We are therefore talking about a classic chopper image where the use of a 21” front wheel and ape-hanger handlebars stand out. Other notable aspects of the model are related to some of the figures declared by the brand. For example, its maximum weight of 261 kilograms in running order, or its final length of 2,245 mm.
Finally, its maximum height remains at 1,295 mmwhile its tires fit in measurements 90/90-21 and 150/80-16the latter being the same size as the Stormbreaker. We don’t know when SWN Motorcycles will present its next custom model to the public. Nor do we know when the Italian brand will offer both this and its sister model on our continent.
